Well, that game went just abut like I thought, but I did figure N.E. would have scored more points against the hapless Rams.

The biggest disappointment, beside the fact the Saints should have been there, was that last field goal the Rams attempted and missed. If they would have hit that and then attempted an on-side kick with the game ending shortly thereafter, I would have won $250 on a football pool. I had squares on 2 different pools with my numbers being in this order, AFC--NFC 7-7, 6-3, 3-6, 5-4 .

Just one more reason to hate the Rams now, and I can't wait for the next time the Saints line up against them in a game. It's going to get ugly.
Gumby, I'm still enraged, yet the team I'm partial to WON the title again. Brees does not screw up like Goff on his throws, does not get pounded like that. If the NFC Championship was indeed a fix by officials, I hope Goodell and the NFL office chokes to death on it.

New Orleans should have been playing yesterday. It should have been two first ballot HOF QBs squaring off for SB LIII.

Your team would have made this thing epic to promote and play. Saints leadership, Payton and Brees, would have known how to not run out of steam at the end of a 19 game season. Instead, the Patriots produced their widest margin of victory in any of their six SB wins. For the second year in a row, lack of experience cost the Rams in the playoffs, something which should NEVER happen! After the Eagles used lack of experience to generate title winning abandon, that failure by the Rams is not excusable.

That was NOT the NFC's best team playing yesterday, and we all know it. I hope the Saints are super pissed and super focused next year. After the way their last two seasons ended, enough is enough! (Too much, in fact.)

There were many venues in N.O. yesterday that had Anti-Super Bowl parties and they were widely attended by the residents of our city. There is a popular bar down the block from me that was DEAD yesterday, but if the Saints would have been playing, it would have been overcrowded.

That is one of the places I had my Super Bowl pool squares and when I went to get my numbers they said they would be showing the Saints SB win in 2010 on all the screens inside the bar and this years SB on their outside screens.

Like you, I feel with almost certain conviction the Saints would have put on a much better show than the Rams did. Brees and Co. bring too much talent to the field to have screwed the pooch like L.A. did. I mean they had 9 punts, one completed field goal and a late missed field goal. That was an offensive display of offense.

Now, for N.O. it's a matter of seeing just how many of this years players remain on the team. As we all know, contract talks, trade possibilities, salary caps all come into play as far as how many of the "stars" of the team remain for next season. I do know this from watching what we have for back-up quarterbacks, if Brees goes, the Saints are sunk until they find a good replacement. That one game Bridgewater started didn't show me a thing to get me excited about him and Taysom Hill, although a very good athlete, didn't show me a NFL arm when he did pass while taking over at QB this season.

That's the game I know and love. Watching Develin was great. That game took me back 15 years when kicking ass in the trenches was what it was all about.

The Pat's where very impressive. I though both coaching staffs came up with great schemes defensively to shut down what both teams like to do.

Really the difference was goff's inability to make throws. Hes fairly accurate, especially on crossers but his arm talent is lacking. Pretty sure most of the starting QBs in the league get that ball to the back of the end zone with ease for example.
I think BB went old school BECAUSE so many teams have gone with the NFL in trying to be pass happy 'big play' offenses...........he plays against trends a lot and the Pats simply deflated [heh] the two best offenses in the league by slowing it down and grinding them up like it was 1985 again...............

Gurley's injury exposed both how much Goff needs the run game to open things up for him and how much the Rams really trust Goff now. He may very well be on his way to being a good/great QB but he is not there now.

Only telling it like it was and speaking the truth.
No, the Rams shit the bed for sure. I was just referring to the pun. You couldn't help yourself with that one, could you.

It seems that one major key yesterday might have been a carryover from the Patriots previous season. Of course Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks were teammates on the 2017 New England squad, and after spending a Super Bowl length season practicing against each other, it was Gilmore who succeeded in stopping Cookie when it mattered most. Edelman took the MVP award, but it otherwise could have gone to the winner of the Gilmore-Cooks matchup. Brandin had an excellent game with 8 receptions for 120 yards, but when it mattered most, he couldn't pull it down, then Gilmore's interception sealed the win.

The Pats lost SB LII by eight points, so this is not just their widest winning margin of their six title wins, but the widest final margin of victory or defeat in all nine Belichick/Brady SB appearances. Not smoke and mirrors, but the "hit 'em in the mouth" template used for their first three SB wins. Defense still wins championships, their running game is restored, and if they continue to cultivate that, a still healthy Brady might be able to snag it all again with that support. He just has to manage his offense on the field, not carry the team on his back again.

Plenty are now expressing the expectation that the Chiefs will represent the AFC in the next SB, but KC has to share that division with the Chargers, who will be even more hellish with Rivers next year. Will Mahomes and the Chiefs have a sophomore slump like Philly had this year? Are the Dolphins, Bills and Jets ready to challenge the Pats in the AFC East? The Steelers have proved too consistent to ever be ignored, but they have to do battle with the Ravens for the AFC North. The AFC South could be a four team war zone if the Jags rebound.

That superbowl was pretty fucking shit.

I can appreciate some of the defensive plays, but the offense on both sides was depressing.

As a resident of N.O. and a Saints fan, it was more a matter of "what if" for many of us, the wife and I included as to what would have happened if the Saints did make it to the big game. Like I've heard many fellow Saints fans say, it very likely would have been a more wide open offensive game, and much higher scoring.

I watched it, but it was a pretty dismal game to view and the only thing I was really pulling for was my numbers on the 2 Super Bowl pools I had played. I didn't hit any quarters, but they were paying $250 a quarter if you wound up with the right numbers and I narrowly missed getting a payout with 3-6 if the kicker for the Rams would have hit the final field goal he attempted in the game.

what a pick this kid turned out to be.........great season and a SB ring and TD to cap it off...........
YUP!

If he continues to improve, he could be the second coming of Corey Dillon.

P.S. HOW ABOUT THEM PATS BRUTHA!

WITH SIX RINGS, TOM BRADY JUST COMPLETED THE INFINITY GOUNTLET AND MADE THE RAMS DISSAPEAR. LOL

I read they thought he could've ended up losing his leg if the injury had been slightly more severe. Smh
ya,he really blew it the fuck up.................and such a waste,he blew it up in a touch game at the pro bowl or something,if I remember correctly..............we really thought we had hit running back gold there and,as you know,in NE thats an almost unheard of gift...........

Good news! To absolutely no one's surprise, this year's SB drew THE lowest TV ratings of any SB in a decade - surpassing even last year's new low.

Gee, who would've thought THREE (maybe four?) separate nationwide boycotts would have such a noticeable impact on ratings?

Edelman took the MVP award, but it otherwise could have gone to the winner of the Gilmore-Cooks matchup.
Glad to see Edelman get it after the horrific beating he took throughout the season. There were times that I thought Brady should be charged with attempted murder, the way that he casually lobbed the ball to Edelman and set him up for some big hits as soon as his hands touched the ball.

Anyway, anyone watching the AAF right now?

slot receivers take hits................thats what they do

if you watch edelman carefully though he is VERY fucking good at avoiding or rolling with contact............a lot of the hits he takes are because he isnt trying to get out of the way but is scrapping............he has some serious matrix ninja style body control when he wants to it seems...........
