Ah, a rematch in the final would be sweet. Hopefully NZ can get some fucking respect from the ICC now. Two consecutive Finals and they dumped India out on their asses. That's a great effort. They'd be a good chance to beat England too, I reckon.

On the NZ TV, Simon Doull was just presenting the "Player of the Match" award. :rolleyes But then ten seconds later he fucked up and called it the "Man of the Match" anyway. Good man.

That was the best game of the world cup. That was absolutely excellent. NZ are like some sort of voodoo. Nobody was picking them after yesterday, I was kind of not entirely convinced I guess but once they fell short of 250 which looked likely, I wrote them off. Great performance.

New Zealand versus either is a great final. No neutral will be supporting the other team I don't think.

Kane Williamson is sitting on an average of 91 which is insane, only two other players (Al Hasan and Sharma) even made the 80s. I'd suggest that if he improves that average in the final, NZ will win, how's that for a bet.

3:29 , in the video below, was when NZ decisively swung the match in their favour. Probably the best piece of fielding in this World Cup ,especially given the occasion.
(the Indian top order's inability to see off the swinging new ball ,didn't help of course - not getting behind the line or dabbing tentatively outside the off-stump)

Now it's up to the Aussies to do the right thing tonight and give us an Aussie-Kiwi final.

Fuck this World Cup, and fuck the ICC.

Here are the team captains.

Here were the team captains in 1999.

And in 2007:

And in 2011:

Notice anything? Cricket has SHRUNK, because the cunts who run it don't give a single fuck about the health of the international game or about anyone outside of India. And to a lesser extent, Australia and England. So this is the smallest tournament since 19 fucking 92, before the professional era FFS. :patsch

For me,this has been the most enjoyable one day cricket World Cup,snce '92.

The round robin format ,where each team gets to play the other team is as fair as any in determining the best tem in the qualitification.

I've quite liked the absence of 3/4 minnows, against whom multiple teams post 400+ run totals or 9/10 wicket wins. Even the weakest team ine competition,Afghanistan, has had moments in more than one game.

So, nah, I disagree. My personal opinion is that 14 teams is certainly too much ,and the World Cup,the global showcase of cricket, suffers,by getting padded out by too many foregone matches.

Ireland should have been included though. Its one of the few places where cricket could grow into something bigger

Scorching 4 from Warner off the first ball.

Archer takes Finch in his first ball.

So we have the confrontation we wanted; England's opening bowling versus Smith and Warner. God bless cricket.

Not to go on and on about it but Williamson was talking in the dressing room about 240 being playable. He also stated that he judged the pitch early and gunned for 270 feeling that this was enough.

He read the conditions, he read the pitch, he read the opposition and he knew his own team. His captaincy has taken a bit of a going over this WC, not without reason but that is astonishing team management. Everybody, everybody else in that stadium was running the NZ strategy down but Williamson backed himself and didn't panic when he came up 30 short of the dream.

Proved 100% right too.

I've not had chance to look, but apparently there's an interview with Kohli from before the tournament started saying anything mid 200s is a difficult task come knockout cricket.

Williamson getting them to 150 with 7 wickets in hand to attack the last 15 overs is what give them a score they had a chance to defend. Maybe he should have gone for a run a ball 20 though, so he looks modern.

He did aye. He said that the later the tournament went the more you'd see these type of failures. He'll be hurting about how right he called it.
