Sadly a Whyte win by KO. Here’s hoping Povetkin has another six rounds in him but doubt he does. Fingers crossed though.

There’s quotes from him saying they’ve received a lucrative offer regarding the rematch so it will be in the UK.

Seems unlikely. He has now fought AJ, Price, Fury, and Whyte in the UK. It must make more financial sense to hold the fights here.

I think Povetkin’s punch resistance has gone. Hunter buzzed him repeatedly & Whyte had him over with shots I don’t think would’ve dropped him a few years back so I’d have to back Whyte by stoppage or points with a couple of knockdowns. However I’ll be hoping for a repeat

Povetkin despite the win does not have the hunger anymore. I am hoping heroes welcome he received on his return to Russsia and the positive reviews in their media. May have re-ignited a spark in him. And He will come with something extra in the re-match.
However the impression I get Povetkin is only fighting because he has to. Not because he wants to.
Also heard rumours he is indebted to Ryabinsky his promoter. Who has
Invested alot of money in him and spent large amounts fighting drugs bans and court cases on his behalf.
Ryabinsky is apparently closely aligned to the Russian Mafia. Once these gangsters have their claws in you they are gonna make sure they can squeeze every last drop of money from you.

Depends really. Whyte was winning, but the quick nature of the rematch has me feeling Povetkin can still expose Whyte's flaws.
The mechanism to beat Povetkin is to fight at range and snipe later on. I don't feel Whyte's jab can keep Povetkin out in such a short space of time between matches. It's not that Whyte boxed bad, it's that his technique and ring IQ can let him down.

AJ got foolish with Ruiz and couldn't cope with his hand speed. The difference was that AJ had a better jab than Whyte to base the plan upon. Father time is against Sasha, but 3 months? Nah mate. It's a second banana skin for Whyte. I'd sooner rebuild than lose x2.

Although, I fancied Lebedev to beat Mchunu and he looked flat. Russian fighters are great, but they do not age well.

Although I fancy Whyte by ko, the fight won't be without intrigue.
He will be far more hesitant which will suit Povetkin. I see a longer, more drawn-out fight, which gives Povetkin more time to land that one shot.

So who ordered the fight on Saturday? I admit I did, had some of the lads over and it was a good night in the end. The two main fights delivered.

Me. I have very little choice in the matter though.
I got the Mrs into boxing years ago, but I created a monster. She loves all the build up and all sky bullshit. She also likes to spend money while I'm a tight fucker.
No way will I ever be allowed to stream a ppv again. We aren't pissing about with streams when we can get Johnny Nelsons powder blue tuxedo's in wide screen HD for the low, low price of 24.95.
She also laps up all the ifl stuff. I come home and find her watching interviews with the Matchroom office staff.
Sometimes the build-up's better than the fights! Haye vs Harrison comes to mind, this millenias Best of Enemies, two great salesmen, Harrison had some people thinking he was gonna pull it out the way he was talking in the run up.
I'd always watch all of the All Access and 24/7 programs on fight week, interviews and pressers and all that good stuff. If I download a big fight the day afterwards because I couldn't watch live and I don't see ringwalks I'll press stop and then look for another download.
On fight night itself Sky was so much better when they had Nick Halling and Jim Watt doing the commentary and anyone but Diamante setting it up was an improvement on what we get now imo.
Some of you know that I had my mortgage on a Whyte victory last weekend and that didn't work out very well for me so I've got to re-asses that call ahead of my pick for the rematch, it's difficult because I never imagined Povetkin could (not would) knock Whyte out, I knew he could wobble him and have him in trouble but not lay him out cold, I never saw how that could be but behold.
I still think Whyte has the ability to win the rematch but I'm struggling with 2 things at the moment. The first is Whyte was in tremendous physical condition for the Povetkin fight, he couldn't have had more time to prepare but despite this he got caught with a shot that wasn't an overhand right from nowhere (like Allen vs Webb) but a beautiful uppercut Povetkin first made room for.
The second is his split with Mark Tibbs. He was undefeated with Tibbs and the minute he leaves he gets chinned. But that's less of an issue as even with Tibbs he's had to climb off the canvas and has been in all sorts of trouble.
So provided that the rematch is immediate, I'm gonna go with Povetkin because even though he was down twice in the first fight he didn't look hurt to me and there's 0 pressure on him in the rematch. A few more handshakes in the build up and glove touches between rounds and Whyte should be there for the taking again.

I think Povetkin has his number. The setup for that punch was being made from the first round. Dillian does not have the experience to know what Povetkin will be setting up, unless he blasts him out of there quickly he could see a repeat KO loss.
