"All I care about is helping everyone" - but you don't care that the trend is going exactly the opposite direction because of increasing wealth inequality, has been for your entire lifetime, and is only accelerating? I don't understand that.

Alright, that was a harsh response, but your post was just.... I can't think of a way to politely phrase it.

Have you looked at where the stratification of American (the thread topic) wealth is going these last 40 years? How far out of control it is already, and how the trend just keeps on accelerating? That the super rich now have ALL the wealth and ALL the power and ALL the control in Washington? Where do you think that road ends?

:hat
But my input on this topic isn't to discuss the realities of the current economy, the past or anything like that, I'm talking hypothetical scenarios with people like AOC against the likes of Trump.

I get where you're coming from and you're absolutely right, I don't disagree. I'm not saying it's likely at all that wealth inequality is going to get any better and I'm not for the status quo, as I've said several times in this thread, but the idea that the rich can't get richer without that affecting worker rights is wrong. Hypothetically, it can, and that's where I'm coming from. I want to see an economy where everyone benefits, the rich included, and it could happen. It won't and that's why I'm disillusioned with economics and hope for a world where people like AOC do have a larger say.

Everything you have said after this is pretty much void, because you have started off by stating "Honestly, I don't really care about social stability and worker's rights."

:hat
In any just society inequality will exist. The question is the level of inequality a society is willing to tolerate.
Off what I read AOCwants equity. This is not just, not fair, to immoral and inefficient.

she can form a coherent sentence all by herself, without a speech writer,so she is already a good few miles ahead of Trump..............
And Trump's speechwriter is about the same age as Cortez. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer either. I had high school classes with him.

She's attractive for sure and has some policies that I might agree with, but then she jumps the shark and goes on about abolishing ICE or this New Green Deal which is more idealistic than it is practical. I actually agree with using green energy more and eventually phasing out fossil fuels, but you can't do it the way she wants to. One thing I will say is that I appreciate her anti war stance and her overall consistency.

Her role for now will be pushing the Democrats to the left, a few 2020 presidential candidates have already embraced the green new deal and mediciare for all, so she definitely has a lot of influence. This is the reason the right wing is terrified of her. She is very popular and resonates with young progressives.

She comes out with a lot of misinformed statements which I guess comes down to her being young and inexperienced.

I think she means well, but she's ignorant and clueless. She also has little to no knowledge of how to actually execute her insane policy ideas and the repercussions they would have.

Some are genuine good ideas, but she takes them all to the extreme, it's a wonderful way to push away moderates.

She was cool the two times or so I hung out with her. She went to BU and I was going to Northeastern at the time and we had a mutual friend. Six degrees of separation ;) We differ in politics but even then she was a strong personality & idealistic - I was shocked but not shocked to see her on the news! She means well overall.

I think she's awesome. She's lacking some experience with the Government, but she's no idiot. She's 29 years old. Among the youngest to ever serve in U.S. Congress. She is SCARY to Republicans. She wants a "Green New Deal" because um, we are killing our fucking planet and our current president says "fuck the planet, mining jobs are disappearing in Virginia". That makes no god damn sense. At least someone is trying to put ideas out there to mitigate climate change.

I have to just laugh at the comparisons to Sarah Palin.. Sarah Palin was a local weather-lady for whom it took 5 years and enrollment in 5 different colleges to earn a communications/journalism degree. AOC has a dual Bachelor's in International Relations and Economics, and graduated at the top of her class... It took her less than 4 years to obtain those degrees. She's light years more qualified for government office than Sarah "I can see Russia from my house" Palin.

Yeah, Trump would claim that he's not an expert, instead of claiming that he knows more about it than anybody on the planet.

:hat
Be fair though, it's genuinely hilarious every time he claims to be the world's expert on everything.

He knows more about technology than almost anybody.
