I lived in a neighborhood where a war between Surenos and Crips left 50-60 dead in a matter of weeks.Oh dude, I'm tracking on your last part. Where I grew up, my high school was about 51% black, 49% Hispanic, and then some token white and Asian kids. The racial animosity was never between white/ black or white/ Hispanic. It was between Hispanics and blacks, and exacerbated by gang affiliation. I've tried telling white people in other parts of the country that "people of color" aren't a monolithic identity.
