This conflict at the top of amateur boxing in britain should have alot more coverage to it. It is seriously affecting the sport at an amateur level. Talk of olympic funding at risk and now this. Should be capitalising on success and not squabbling at this time.

What? Because BABA dindt say thank you?
What did AIBA want from the BABA? Money? Would be a shame if that happens.

Its an absolute joke of a situation. There's 30 Olympic places up for grabs that they will now lose out on (and in that I mean the opportunity for some boxers to secure a place in the games) because the top brass can't get their shit together.

Real shame, was looking forward to going to britain vs cuba live :( I guess we'll have a few mofe pro nows, apparently wsb paid really ridiculous money though; kal yafai's brother was earning more in the wsb than he is in the pros. Though I expect selby will hang around in the amateurs to try and pick up a gold medal at the world championships

Very disappointing news, I really enjoyed the last WSB season :-(
adamcanavan Last I heard, Andrew Selby will be taking part in AIBA's new pro boxing venture, the APB.

My first reaction to this was that at least people like Selby would be more inclined to turn proper pro, but it is a shame for the Olympics, we were becoming a top amateur nation! I wonder how the Irish lads will react to this as well, Joe Ward and John Joe Nevin

All comp? Even olympics and wc?
What is the problem actually? The article only said that the BABA dindt say "thank you" for the money they got...but what did the AIBA want?

Fuck, was actually joying seeing the Lionhearts in the WSB. Sucks to be Brits if they actually get banned from all competition though, very harsh and it means there must be serious shit going on behind the scenes. Hopefully they sort it out soon.

Shouldn't be too much of a big deal for Nevin and Ward, they both should find new teams easily enough.

The Scottish and English ABA wrangling over money most likely. WSB footed the money for the first series but aren't no longer, our boxing commissions have pissed farted around arguing about it and AIBA has gotten sick of us and puled the plug. I don't know all the details but some of the officials were telling me that AIBA could ban us from all comps for two years if they dont get their acts together including world champs, possibly junior, schoolboy champs etc - Olympics wouldn't be in that time period but damn you gotta think thats sort of fallback would effect the team going into Brazil.
