Am I the only nerd here getting down on the new season of BattleBots? It might just be me but I get some of the same joy out of this as I do Boxing and UFC events... especially once I got familiar with the teams/bots. Here's a couple greatest hits type videos of seasons past (pay close attention to fights with the bot "Tombstone" who is the Mike Tyson of bots):

Wow I expected this to be shit on from the get lol...

Nah Mate I have seen each episode, that Bronco is awesome but I don't see anything beating Tombstone
I actually think Bronco could beat Tombstone if he's able to get underneath him. Some of Bronco's new armor configurations seem pretty effective against that kind of spinner.

I watched some earlier in the year. Quite enjoyed it. Better than most of the boxing matches nowadays.
The fact that the fights are only 3 minutes tops kinda helps with that eh

I think we have already seen that the armour configs have not been able to stop him. I would love Bronco to win it much more fun to see a fling bot because of skill rather than it just go flying because of contact

Fair enough, but it takes skill in and of itself to design a bot with a weapon that spins that fast, but is still operational and effective after one or two impacts.

New BattleBots season is fire...

... also myself and a friend at work have been inspired to start building combat robots ourselves. The BattleBots TV show features heavyweight (250 lb.) bots... but entry into the hobby is usually at Antweight (1 lb.) and Beetleweight (3 lb.). I have now built my first Antweight robot, named "Drummer Boi". Behold:

Looks awesome, what size is that and what damage you expecting to do?

It's an Antweight, 1 lb. (453 grams). The front drum spins on a brushless motor (the kind typically found powering drone propellers). The screw heads are the teeth that catch on an opponent, hopefully sending it flying. The drum spins very fast and is more dangerous than it looks in the picture.
