The British Boxing Board of Control have cancelled all events due to take place in January. The only one major show to be effected is likely to be David Avanesyan vs Josh Kelly.

A responsible decision under the circumstances.

How is it reasonable ? Are you talking the new variant ?

Things were put in place to make it safe as possible. Testing quarantine bubbles

Not trolling btw can u tell me there was a outbreak during a fight not seen it in news. I was under the impression boxing was a elite sport. Just seems weird other sports can go ahead yet not boxing. They send Luke to the USA yet announce no more fights.

Avanesyan VS Kelly seems to be cursed. Feel for the 2 fighters weight cut over Christmas training as well

Sad news, but understandable.

Numbers are increasing dramatically, and the NHS is swamped, so they can't guarantee fighters safety of they need medical assistance.

Valid point but what about other sports. Football fractured skull goes hospital recently more players greater risk yet it still goes ahead. Lower leagues hardly any testing pisses me off how they are making rules up as they go along. Then again risk assessment nearest hospital is full.

London 100% agree not the right venue move it to another location.

Could they agree fighters safety last year they can minimise the risk but at no point imo can safety be guaranteed. If you go into any hospital doctors dentist there is a element of risk.

Just annoys me boxing gets the short straw

If they had said we can't get ambulances or doctors ringside well that's different and fights should be postponed.

Annoying but inevitable given the medical requirements. I would be surprised if we get anything before easter now...

Haven't watched the new IFL yet, but as much as admire EH's Positivity I think he is letting his heart rule his head...
There is a difference between being positive and downright dreaming.

As you said, Easter is probably realistic.

They said Elite sports can continue so who knows what will happen. Maybe they couldn't find suitable venues.

The last time I checked boxing was classed as an elite sport they have been given the green light

Checked the criteria again just to make sure

  • an individual who derives a living from competing in a sport
Do u think all elite sports should be cancelled or just boxing ? I am really stumped on why they are shelving boxing but other Sports continue.

It's the board decision though right? Not a government mandated thing. So it's not that boxing is being treated differently it's the governing body of the sport making the call. Like if the FA decided to suspend all Football games.
