I agree but like said take the best song of both..

in that case beach boys win

God only knows is a top 10 all time best song
It's a great song but The Beatles aren't short of classics themselves... Let It Be, Day In The Life, Yesterday, you could go on and on.

Pet Sounds to be completely fair is one of the most influential albums of all time.

Well don't worry, as atrocious as this thread is for such terrible comparison, this doesn't make your top 10.
They wrote the number one album of all time as decided by numerous respected music magazines as link above shows. They had countless hits and had the most innovative single ever in good vibrations.

Yet not a single person has put forward an argument for them being better than The Beatles...becuase they quite clearly aren't.

We can compare all their best songs or albums if you like, or we can go down the route of who was more infuential.

Either way, you lose.

Thank you so you’ve not countered my statements that they had the best album ever and most innovative song, I’ll go with Junior and agree that God Only Knows is a better singer than the Beatles catalogue, you can argue back about a song praising 4000 potholes in Lancashire if you want but that’s best album, song and innovation. Their legacy is fine with multiple Hollywood films made about them and Brian Wilson clearly lauded as the greatest living musical genius alive.

That's because the best album ever is entirely subjective Ernest, but yeah I prefer Revolver, and then after Pet Sounds, The Beatles destroy them album for album.

The thread says The Beatles v The Beach Boys as well, not which single album is better.

The Beatles are a better band by a distance, better albums, better song, much bigger influence, more variety, pretty much every measure. Feel free to put forward a counter argument.

My counter argument has already been made bets album, best song, innovation, musical genius in Wilson.

As you said it’s subjective, but there is my counter argument. I love Revolver as well but Pet Sounds is superior as near enough every musician outside the Gallaghers would tell you.

We can agree to disagree on best album and best song, but this isn't a question about one album.

Can you list all of the best Beach Boys albums and then we will compare them to the best Beatles albums.

Using your own logic you'd struggle to find a musician that would suggests the beach boys are superior to The Beatles.

We can list best songs while we are here to, no point just focusing on one.

My appreciation for The Beach Boys has grown massively in the last couple of years. Brian Wilson was a songwriting genius and wrote some of the most beautiful harmonies and melodies ever. Their work during and post Pet Sounds is incredibly imaginative, if slightly inconsistent.

However, as much as I think The Beach Boys are great and their best work is amongst the best ever made; however, this also applies to The Beatles who also managed to produce significantly more great material than The Beach Boys, or, for that matter, the vast majority of bands/artists that have ever existed. It would have been interesting to see how The Beach Boys would have gone on post Pet Sounds had Brian Wilson not lost it. Good Vibrations, Surfs Up and Heroes & Villains show there was plenty left. I think the latter two are amongst the best songs of the era even though they're not as well known as other Beach Boys songs:

But then, when you make songs like the following consistently, who can really compete?

And so on. Fucking crazy shit.

Criteria on how you judge can be different.

Eg Mike Tyson v Vladimir Klitschko.

Both had similar length careers. Wlads title reign was longer but Tysons peak was better than Wlads peak. So who was the best in an ATG list? I’d put Tyson down, would you put Wlad?

The Smile what was eventually released in 2004 was epic. Uncut put it as album of the year rightly so

You're deflecting.

Stupid example as well given The Beatles peak was also greater, whilst the entire body of work isn't even close, the beach boys should never be compared.

That's why barely any musician would agree with you here, but the vast majority would agree with me.
