Anyone see thread today. Doyen trying to make his self look good by saying he was at gym with yarde and Edwards Bros. Asslicking basically. Then Edwards FAM says they did well bracuse they kept away from mugs like Doughty Doyen. He's deleted it. Anyone on is page care to put up question for him what was all that about?

  • Sajjad Saj Ali Nick, I often ask that question, and he's answered it many a time, of our mate Ben Doughty!

  • Sajjad Saj Ali I often still pester him about it now from time to time, to have a go at the pro circuit. I reckon he'd make a brilliant journeyman. Put top prospects through a right quagmire!

  • Ben Doughty Why would I want to be a journeyman...?

    Let alone at 49...?

It’s a nice living or auxiliary job for some lads but I wouldn’t have gone that route when I was 25 or 30, never mind now...

  • Sajjad Saj Ali Ben I hear you and know you'd want to do things seriously but tidy sums of a £1000 or so for giving some whippersnapper a serious test might not be a bad night's work...!

  • Ben Doughty Pointless conversation, Saj. Wouldn’t get a license at my age and I’m not looking for one....

  • Simon White Would love to have seen Däni and Ben as pros. But...they've made their decisions in life and they seem very comfortable with it. But I still think Dan could have a couple to test the waters...

  • Sajjad Saj Ali Nick Manners my opponent in my solitary white collar bout has harassed me for ages about a rematch! Unfortunately I'm not a household name in my own house and people could sell snow to Eskimos better than I can tickets!

  • Däni Wright Nick Manners yes bigman I'm cool in life I have no desire to make a comeback I let my cousin Craig Richards carry the family flag in boxing now. And if I get time I'd like to help out the kids down my old Am club LYNN AC and I'd never be no ones journeyman either that's not my mental make up. I'm doing decent business wise and happy to just get trimmer and healthy that's it my fighting days are done I've got good memory's and still love the sport and watch as a fan. Nothing to prove.

  • Sajjad Saj Ali Hi Nick, it was in 2010. I was badly prepared and at the time lacked a proper coaching. This was before I met Ben and trained with former 2-time ABA Champion Tony Cesay. I managed to get a bout by luck thanks to boxing coach Mickey Cunningham, who I knew from my days at The Real Fight Club (Alan Lacey's old place near Old Street). I was lucky not to get knocked out in the first round and was thankful to a tough referee in Alan (forgot surname), another trainer at The Real Fight Club. I managed to get my jab going in the 2nd and toughed it out in the 3rd.
It was a no-decision bout so declared a draw, which it probably was, just about.
I've subsequently had a handful of charity exhibitions since including one with Ben, which Ian John Lewis (that IJL) declared a draw, much to Ben's mock chagrin! Plus another more recent one with former pro Anthony Campbell who boxed Ricky Hatton and Georgie Smith. I probably did better in those and gave a better account of myself than I did in my actual bout!
Sorry for the long reply. I do over elaborate!
