I'd have to say 50's america. Liberation. jobs and wealth for all. If I could live anywhere and anytime I think that's where I'd chose to live.

From someone born in the early 50's, I'd have to agree. But the 60's sure sucked with major players being assassinated (JFK, MLK, RFK), political unrest with multiple protests due to Nam, lots of violence thrown toward the Civil Rights participants, etc.

But the 50's were a booming time for the U.S. Like you said, jobs, housing market upswing, fair prices on commodities and an overall simpler time.

Being an adult in the 80's. Vice City makes that era look so damn awesome. Great music, Fab Four, clothing style, kayfabe wrestling, and you still have the 90's to look forward to. Great media and innovation during the 90's, especially in gaming.

A reasonably good time and place, no doubt.

Best enjoyed as a white male.
No point debating (arguing) with you. For all this bad things that happened back then good things and co racial relations happened too. Just numpties wanna focus on the bad like it was the only thing that happened.

But I guess it fits your agenda.

What the fuck are you whingeing about, Someguy ?

Are you going to seriously try to tell me that A black guy would have had things better in the America of the fifties than say, the 80's or 90's. Or today ?

Jackie Robinson had just made his breakthrough two or three years earlier.

There were white-only toilets, hotels and drinking fountains.

And occasional lynchings.

And you try to seriously deny the need for the caveat I mentioned ?

A similar (if weaker) case could be made for American woman in the fifties.

I agreed with your post in general, but clarified that it would be "best enjoyed as a white male."

And you come back all triggered, with "agendas" and "numpties" and "co racial relations" (whatever the fuck they are/were).

Do you have the first fucking clue about the period ?

Only you can turn a thread about a good time and place to be alive into a racial victimisation fiesta. Congrats. What a lame fucktard you are

No , S, you’re the one being the fucktard here.

You read far more into my qualifier than was intended.

I merely pointef out the indisputablle fact that 1950s America was not by any means, the best time and place for non-whites or women.

Are you disagreeing with that point?

Or are you just pissed off that I brought it up ?

I have no general beef with you or any of the other right-leaning posters, save maybe Clarence, who appears to be a bit off the deep end.

It’s just that your selection of time and place works better for white males than other demographics.

For myself, i would probably have enjoyed London or Paris at the end of the 19th century....if I was part of the aristocracy. The social circuit and the characters of the day would have been entertaining..

Another vote for 50's America. I was born within a month of the beginning of Eisenhower's 1st term, and I've always been fascinated and enamored of this decade,...to me, Jim Crow excepted, it was America's Golden Decade...8 years of relative stability, peace and steady prosperity in a much simpler time. Yes, give me Eisenhower's America...a steady, wise hand at the helm for 8 years. I have always wished that I was an adult then and had experienced the entire decade.
