If he's "fit" enough to box why not take up a simple job? Cleaning offices or something?

I remember Iran Barkley being asked this question, he had a painter job offered which is decent money. He just gave a dismissive glance, like the job was beneath him.

Thats what happens when your shit doesn't stink.

Remember the report of Bowe selling autographs at a flea market?

That was over ten years ago. Imagine what his financial situation is like now...
That's the problem with so many people in sport on the professional level. If they are good enough, they make bank while plying their trade, but far too often they have ZERO knowledge of financial planning and wind up broke ass bitches later in life when they should be enjoying their retirement years. A quick google check indicated he earned over $80 million in purses over his career, so who's to blame for his financial straits...……..especially fighters who have careers that usually last into the mid 30's at best. There's usually a lot of life left to live from that time on, and it doesn't get cheaper as the years pass.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for sports figures, or anyone else who had earned that kind of money and is now destitute. Is it sad to see, yeah, but they only have to look in the mirror to see who's to blame.

I bet he actually saw less than $5 mil of that. Sure, that's still a lot, but it goes fast if you have to pay trainers & lawyers & managers. And your friends & family all asking for hand-outs.
Plus, a rich & FAMOUS young man just HAS to party once in a while!

And when you manager or lawyer rips you off, which is basically a given, it very often means you unknowingly break the tax laws, so the IRS eventually comes after you with HUGE fines.

Still, yeah, stupid athletes. It's a bit of both.

Some people just can't hold down a regular job. It's probably even harder if you have previously lived the high life.

Hearn claims some guy kept calling him, asking him to "sign the contract" to promote Bowe.

Hearn said he wasn't interested, and told the guy to go away and leave him alone.

Yeah I could totally see that.
I just can't feel too sorry for him personally.

No, me either.

He is a product of his environment to some extent, we all are, but there also comes a time when you have to accept responsibility for your own mistakes.

Maybe he has to be fair, it's just too late either way.
