All I see is you not saying that he wanted to bring Jim Crow back. Thanks for your honesty.
The irony is, the only people who are promoting the ideas of segregation are on the left. It's only them who are spouting the ideas of all black cities/regions, arguing that businesses should be supported depending on the race of the owner, that there should be seperation in dormitories and so on.

The right aren't the ones saying that there needs to be a racial split, it's entirely a left wing idea.

Gee what argument do you want to have? I can’t figure it out. As long as you backed off your Jim Crow argument good enough.
"Make America Great Again".

This slogan states three things.

1) America is no longer great.

2) At one time, it was great.

3) Elect this man, and he will bring that greatness back.

So what time is he referring to? Ballpark?

You've ducked the question what, five times now? How about taking a shot at answering it?

See the guy I just responded to in the last post?

He LITERALLY wants to see America break into multiple independent nations along partisan political (and possibly racial) lines.

STOP. FUCKING. CONSTANTLY. LYING. YOU. BUNCH. OF. LYING. CUNTS. :patsch

Or when the first black President was replaced by the guy who made his political name by screaming for years that said black President was not a real American...... and whose campaign slogan was "Let's take America back to the Jim Crow era"......... and whose entire "governing" strategy has been to divide the populace and whip up resentment and hatred.

Could have something to do with it, you reckon?

:hat
So people in 2009 had a crystal ball that enabled them to see that Trump would replace Obama in seven years?

Nice try.

Why not just try to answer the question?

"Make America Great Again."

Great like when?

And what made it great then, but not now?

What is this, the sixth time you've pathetically ducked this very basic question in the last two pages?

Because we know what this will lead to. You want to have a 40 page argument about it. Start a thread.
My opinion is American was never great if you compare it to some fantasy land that never existed. It was always great if you compare it to its times. Notice I said great not perfect. There is a reason more people have tried to get into the USA than any other country basically the whole time it’s been around.

America is in decline and I am sure we would disagree on why.

Taking issue with "Make America Great Again" to imply that the country was never great in the first plae is absurd. America is a great country, look at their record of democracy, of free speech, of civil rights, technological progression, innovation, cultural enhancement and so on. People only bring up that point so they can reply with pictures of slaves and think that they're making a noble point but they're not, they're making a point which is so selective, it has no merit.

The fact is, every country has a shady history. If you live in a country with a spotless record, you live in a recently colonised nation which essentially has no history, but if you live anywhere that has been historically significant, then your nation will have a imperfect past. That's because humankind is imperfect, there has never been a perfect nation, nor will there ever be. Britain has been a great country but it doesn't make the treatment of the Irish any better. France has been a great country but it doesn't excuse the Napoleonic wars. Germany has been a great country yet even in modern history, they have supported the Nazi party. Australia classed it's black people as "fauna" until the 1960s, Switzerland only made homosexuality legal in recent history, Italy has a woman alive today who was the first to publicly refuse to marry her rapist. And these are first world, 'civilised' nations, but if you go around the world today, you'll still find many countries that are racist, homophobic or misogynist by law.

These arguments go nowhere. It's not saying anything other than "in the past, your country was wrong"...well, yeah, and so was every other civilisation worth an ounce. Every country had racism, every country had homophobia, every empire stole resources, every prominent country took slaves...and that's just what history is, it's a frequently shameful thing to look back at.

The idea that "Make America Great Again" is therefore an invalid comment is nonsense because whilst there obviously were regrettable things in America's history, that negative aspect doesn't define them and nor should it. Their motor industry, sending man to the moon, developing vaccines, Hollywood, the music industry and all these other things are why America was - and still is - a "great" country. It can be better but it's not going to happen when people only focus on the bad.

It won't take long before everybody starts to realize..........they bring it on themselves by not obeying the cops. Stop doing stupid crap and the cops won't be a problem.

Dude gets drunk falls asleep in a fast food drive thru, then refuses to do what he;s told, and it's the cops fault when this becomes a mess?

I posted this elsewhere today but it is undoubtedly relevant in this thread too.

I’d love as many people listen to this podcast, digest and discuss it, like adults afterwards. There’s a lot of sensible discussion here, by intelligent people, and we should all find meaning and a lot of common ground.......but I fear that much will be attacked by one group. ‘The Elect’.

#217 - THE NEW RELIGION OF ANTI-RACISM

A Conversation with John McWhorter

September 17, 2020

In this episode of the podcast, Sam Harris speaks with John McWhorter about race, racism, and “anti-racism” in America. They discuss how conceptions of racism have changed, the ubiquitous threat of being branded a “racist,” the contradictions within identity politics, recent echoes of the OJ verdict, willingness among progressives to lose the 2020 election, racism as the all-purpose explanation of racial disparities in the U.S., double standards for the black community, the war on drugs, the lure of identity politics, police violence, the enduring riddle of affirmative action, the politics of “black face,” and other topics.

John McWhorter is a professor of linguistics, philosophy, and music history at Columbia University, and writes for various publications on language issues and race issues such as Time, the Wall Street Journal, the Daily Beast, CNN, and The Atlantic. He also hosts the podcast Lexicon Valley at Slate. He most recently wrote Talking Back Talking Black: Truths About America’s Lingua Franca.

I think his supporters think its the 40's when USA was saving the world or the 50's when everyone was white, married, and employed.

Trump thinks its the vulgar, garish, excessive 80's though. (or when his daughter was 13).
