Any pictures of the Croydon shooter yet? Shouldn't be hard to find him as he was in a police station.

Can you show me cases where the right is being dismissive of actual police reform?

I think many are just tired of hearing this rhetoric of things like systematic racism and you're a racist if you're a white person no matter what, etc.
So you will have people speak out against that in addition to the violence. But unfortunately those on the left have been promoting this culture that everyone is racist and we just basically tear it all down as the only solution.

By the way, I'm a liberal, but the idiots on the left have been foaming at the mouth for so long that I find myself agreeing with some on the right. At least it's been easier to hold a civilized discussion with those on the right, as the ones on the left have been alienating anyone that does not agree with them.

The double standards and hypocrisy right now have been my breaking point, they have pushed their bullshit to the limit and many are fed up with it.

Look at these people singing outdoors being arrested while the violent riots are allowed to continue. I will agree that things like this will be the death of the left as more and more people are forced to vote against them.

Utterly baffling, again, people get shot dead on a regular basis and it gets a bit too much for you only when the wrong people get inconvenienced, yes, you're a neoliberal all right

I've got plenty of people that I work with that are very conservative and aren't really for reform. Anytime I hear someone stating that white people are automatically racist I dismiss them. Their opinions at that point are bullshit and I don't take them seriously. Just like anytime I hear someone say that systemic racism doesn't exist I also dismiss them and stop taking them seriously.

Defunding the police is fucking retarded idea. My idea is that cops need a 4 year degree. Colleges need to start programs for this. Make prospective cops take economics, psychology, ethics, black history, latino history, us history. Loads of other shit, learn 'em up.
How about everyone learns basic legacy issues? How about you stop the fucking whataboutery (a term coined in Ireland because WHAT ABOUT DE IRA ) every time something like this happened but no,no ,it's the oppressed who have to learn violence will never get people on your side (Spoken by American or British authority spokesperson)

Shot on a regular basis? There have been less people killed in cop shootings this year than people killed by BLM/ANTIFA. How about you focus on statistics and data instead of fabricating feelings. Do you honestly believe cops are going out in the streets and shooting people daily?

This is not an inconvenience, BLM/ANTIFA have destroyed more lives this year than any single year of people getting shot by cops. We're at 30+ people dead from these riots. How many black people have lost their livelyhoods because of these riots? How many people have been hurt by this? How much longer will this bullshit be supported by democratic law makers?

You sound very uneducated on the subject, have you been hiding in a cave these past 4 months?

This is a joke right? Your country is at a standstill because of the jackbooted BLM rampaging and killing left right and center? 30+ dead by the riots eh? Are the BLM 'organisation' resposible for this? How many died directly at the hand of a BLM member. That elite highly organised paramilitary ('terrorist') organisation

30+ people are dead because of ANTIFA & BLM. If leaders had stopped by the violence this could have been avoided.

You really sound uneducated on the matter. Go read up on 4 months of rioting and looting then you can come back and discuss it like an adult.

I won't even reply to your second post, you sound like a drunk.

You can't even name me a member because you can't join because they aren't an organisation, wow even the modern day UVF carry a ten year sentence for membership of a proscribed fascist terrorirst group, and they hold membership ceremonies. How many members do BLM and ANTIFA have? None, they arent organisations and you cant join.

I mean, Bobby Sands had to leave 3 houses because the got burnt down, had a gun held to his head and was told never to come back to work or he can scoop his catholic brains off the floor, he joined the IRA and starved himself on hungerstrike to try and prove a point. Still gets called a terrorist. But, the blacks just go too far when they get shot dead for looking like they might be reaching for a gun, perhaps. Fuck off with your definition of a terrorist, you've killed about 500 children in the ME the last five days but thats 'Collateral Damage'.._ Sick, Sick, sick

I posted this elsewhere today but it is undoubtedly relevant in this thread too.

I’d love as many people listen to this podcast, digest and discuss it, like adults afterwards. There’s a lot of sensible discussion here, by intelligent people, and we should all find meaning and a lot of common ground.......but I fear that much will be attacked by one group. ‘The Elect’.

#217 - THE NEW RELIGION OF ANTI-RACISM

A Conversation with John McWhorter

September 17, 2020

In this episode of the podcast, Sam Harris speaks with John McWhorter about race, racism, and “anti-racism” in America. They discuss how conceptions of racism have changed, the ubiquitous threat of being branded a “racist,” the contradictions within identity politics, recent echoes of the OJ verdict, willingness among progressives to lose the 2020 election, racism as the all-purpose explanation of racial disparities in the U.S., double standards for the black community, the war on drugs, the lure of identity politics, police violence, the enduring riddle of affirmative action, the politics of “black face,” and other topics.

John McWhorter is a professor of linguistics, philosophy, and music history at Columbia University, and writes for various publications on language issues and race issues such as Time, the Wall Street Journal, the Daily Beast, CNN, and The Atlantic. He also hosts the podcast Lexicon Valley at Slate. He most recently wrote Talking Back Talking Black: Truths About America’s Lingua Franca.

has anyone actually listened to this yet? I still she shouting and deflection, but very little discussion.

Harris and McWhorter are far more in tune here with those ‘on the right’ at CHB but I feel the Usual Upsets will call them both to Nazis or an Uncle Tom, or whatever.

hymns are violence whereas the demonstrators are ‘mostly peaceful’

Spot on.

Unfortunately, people don't care about the facts any more. I got into a debate on this subject here yesterday, and talking to people about the police, you'd think they're shooting people left and right every single day. The level of outrage that people feel is completely disproportionate to the level of injustice that there is. Rather than see this as being very rare cases of police brutality getting covered up, you see people jump from a case like Chauvin/Floyd and then say "...just one of the ____ people killed every year by police", like the Chauvin/Floyd case is not the exception to the rule.

There's this prevalent mentality that the police are racist and they're constantly killing innocent black people. The numbers just don't prove that to be true, on either front, whether there's racial injustice or whether there's a high number of deaths each year.

You see it now with the Breonna Taylor case, people demanding that the police are charged with murder...why? They were shot at, they were more than within their rights to shoot back if they felt under threat. That isn't murder, it's the police defending themselves which they have a right to do but when you point that out to people, it becomes "LOL bootlicker" or whatever. People have lost sight of what truth is and now just look to every case to back their argument up. Breonna Taylor should still be alive but the reason she's dead is because her boyfriend fired on the cops first, and any wrongdoing in that case isn't related to the officer pulling the trigger which he was entitled to do.

But people don't care about facts, they care about the narrative and will misrepresent deaths to suit their argument. The Pittsburgh Steelers have Antwon Rose on their helmets, despite the fact he was a thug running from police after carrying out a drive by shooting. He may not have deserved to die but he was still a piece of shit who shouldn't be held up as this example of injustice. He's someone who put himself into a dangerous situation by making bad choices and paid the ultimate price. I don't have sympathy for these people at all.
