Just a fun listen with plenty of wide ranging opinions on past weekends/upcoming weeks fights...As someone that has never listened to it, what's the appeal?
The knowledge of all the contributors. Steve Wellings is absolutely flawless. Andy Paterson is ridiculously in touch with the fight game. US contributors are fucking brilliant on there too.As someone that has never listened to it, what's the appeal?
Likewise.I'm a big fan of Donny Baseball...
His bit on Ricky Hatton being taken as a sex slave in Chechnya after the Browne/Chags fight was hilarious...Likewise.
Asylum has me fucking howling laughing. Such a good split between boxing knowledge and humour. His bit on Ricky Hatton being taken as a sex slave in Chechnya after the Browne/Chags fight was hilarious...
They're boxing nerds basically. Its been going that long they've got into a good groove and the host is really good at handling things and keeping a good pace.As someone that has never listened to it, what's the appeal?
Excellent post Tom.They're boxing nerds basically. Its been going that long they've got into a good groove and the host is really good at handling things and keeping a good pace.
Its knowledge and opinion dropped and is a verbal form of reading a forum basically - its no white knuckle ride and is essentially 5 blokes talking boxing from their spare rooms but its just trickles along nicelyas background noise. They really dislike Hearn and don't seem objective tbh but thats most 'hardcore' boxing fans as its cool to dislike the main man.
Just idle chat about the week that was and the week ahead and taking the piss about idiots who embarrass themselves on Bellew of the week.
They have a wide range of guests and normally lads from the small hall scene with odd people like Lucas Browne, Steve Wood, John Ryder more well known. The interviews always feel a little rushed to me though and can tell the host is just reading boxrec.
It's not perfect but its free content from lads doing it from a passion knowing it will never be more than a few 1000 people listening.
Don't listen expecting anything hilarious mind. They're just lads talking bollocks so there are odd funny moments but nothing that has me proper lol'ing. Often the best funny bits of unintentional like when the nerdy american lad talked to a ringcard girl and you could feel his sweaty palms through the podcast
I think I won that once, I was certainly on the shortlist.I've listened to one or two in the past, they're pretty good, miles better than the yank shite. But I have one question... Do they still do Bellew of the Week?
it was the yarde andre ward letter wasnt it. that wasn't even you as well (though im still not 100% sure)I think I won that once, I was certainly on the shortlist.
Sadly I can't remember why.
theres a lad from chorley whos a bit doom and gloom at times but knows his stuff and nice enough lad.i gave up because it was so negative, not just to matchroom, but in general. will give it another go.
