Your wife sounds very racist and there is nothing wrong with that, I know in the past you have said that she doesn't even like to watch white comedians. The great majority of people are racist. They either admit it or they lie. As long as they are not hurting anyone than it is irrelevant. If she doesn't lie to see a back boxer lose it hurts nobody. Society needs to stop trying to deny that most people feel like this.
I think people have to stop denying that tribalism and racism are not going to go away. I always ask my liberal friends ( who try to deny tribalism ) when was the last time they tried to get a place to live in a black area. They are always silent.

My choice in who I want to win a boxing match now has turned into who I think the biggest twat is and rooting against him. When I started following the sport I'd support the Brit in international fights and the northerner in domestic fights, if it was two southerners or northerners then my football rivalries would come into it. Then Paul Smith went on The Contender and although he didn't come across as a prick on there it was him and his notoriety that started to change my thinking on fighters.

@Mrboogie23 when did your grandma move from Germany? Are talking a quick exit post WWII, because that could explain a little of your wife's thinking. She may think something is up with sweet old grandma Eva and be trying to approach the subject with you by starting with this.

She met my grandfather during WW2. He married her and brought her back.

Must be a great story to tell that one. It fascinates me that type of thing.

Wait a minute who's side were Mexico on in WWII?

She's not VERY racist. She married a damn Mexican with a German grandma for fucks sake.
"told my wife that she should know better. She said she did but that just watching the black guy get beat up and us cheering for the other guy just bothered her. That's what I'm talking about, is it almost innate in people. Tribalism, identifying with someone that looks like you even though you don't know the person at all. It's weird isn't it?

You posted this yourself. All I am saying is that is how humans are for the most part. I am agreeing with what you said here. Yes I agree that it does not apply to you but it does not the great majority of people who ever lived. It is not going away.

Read the paragraph again. I'm asking a bigger question. Why do sports like boxing, MMA, bring out tribalism in some?

You're continuing focus on my wife is annoying me. I've admitted on here, several times throughout the years in fact, that she is clearly more racist than I am. I'd wager that she's still quite a bit less racist then you are.

You are correct strike. There is no racism out there and most people don't care.
Well, that's a strawman. I didn't say there was no racism, but no I don't think most people are racist, and the fact you've denied being racist for so long, but are now saying everybody is and there's "nothing wrong" with being "very racist" is quite hilarious.

Boxing and MMA speaks to a more a primal side of human nature in people. I mean seeing a white looking guy beating the shit out of a black guy, with everyone cheering as well, it probably just brought back some bad memories for her, given the racism she's experienced in the past.

@Mrboogie23 you should tell her that her people are responsible for 50% of the murders in this country and it’s ridiculous for her to get all upset because a Mexican American beat up a Black Brit in a professional boxing match, ffs.

Yeah! Black Brits aren't even really people are they? Like mythical creatures of some sorts....
