Boxnation with another card this weekend - Sun 10th Feb - RBR!!!

  • Latest update: Apologies for errors yesterday, due to php resource allocation needs configuring to suit the server, and can only do that when we know what's not working.

There should be no more errors now, but there might be a bit more configuring required. If you get any error 500's or other errors browsing, please send me a pm with your ip address, time of error (and your timezone if not uk), and the page you're trying to access.

Should be leading to some big performance increase and new features. Thanks to everyone for patience and support.

More boxing on Boxnation - Sunday night/Monday morning from Fresno, California.

On air 12 midnight, 10th Feb.

RAMIREZ Vs ZEPEDA
THE WBC WORLD SUPER-LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

WBC Super-Lightweight Champion Jose Ramirez will make the second defence of his title against Jose Zepeda on a BoxNation Sunday night special on February 10th.
Social campaigner Ramirez will be roared on by his fervent fans on home soil at the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California.

A huge crowd is expected with the champion insisting that a portion of ticket sales will go to a local cancer organisation.

“I feel blessed to defend my title a second time at home against a great opponent and also support an issue that affects everyone and their families,” Ramirez said.
The local hero will have to be on his A-game when he risks his belt against heavy handed Zepeda (30-1, 25 KOs) who is no stranger to BoxNation fans.

Southpaw Zepeda appeared on our channel in July 2015 when he challenged Terry Flanagan for the vacant WBO Lightweight Title, but was forced to quit after two rounds because of a shoulder injury.

Zepeda, 29, said: “I’ve been waiting for this opportunity since my first World Title shot against Terry Flanagan.

“I’m going to train very hard, better than ever before. I’m very thankful to my team and Jose Ramirez for giving me this chance. I’m not going to waste it, and that’s why I’m training so hard.”

Since losing to the Manchester man, Zepeda has won eight on the spin and is a serious threat to Ramirez. His impressive run of form includes a first-round TKO against former World Title challenger Ammeth Diaz and a sixth-round TKO versus Abner Lopez.

Ramirez (23-0, 16 KOs) won his World Title in New York City last March, grinding down Amir Imam to win a wide unanimous decision.

More than 11,000 packed into the Save Mart Arena for his maiden defence in September and he didn’t disappoint. Previously unbeaten Antonio Orozco was floored twice in a Fight of the Year contender which Ramirez won on points.

His showdown against Zepeda looks sure to be another exciting slugfest.

Beltran vs Okada
SUPER-LIGHTWEIGHT CONTEST

In the chief support Ray Beltran (35-8-1, 21 KOs) returns against unbeaten Hiroki Okada in a 10-round Super-Lightweight fight.

He hasn’t boxed since last August when he lost his WBO Lightweight Title against Jose Pedraza, costing him a huge unification against Vasyl Lomachenko.
Japan’s Okada (19-0, 13 KOs) is ranked in the top 10 at 140 pounds by all four major sanctioning organisations.

"To challenge for the World Title, I’ve got to beat Beltran," Okada said. "As a former World Champion, I know he’s highly skilled. I know he’s tough, so I’ll be prepared for a good fight."

It's good that Zepeda is getting another chance after the Flanagan fight. The bad news is he's against a true quality operator in Ramirez.

Beltran's also in deep with Okada.
