She'd get KO'd on the way in. She gets hit in the face in every fight she's had by women who are about 5ft 6", so some massive rugby player with a huge reach advantage is going to land a punch on her as she rushes forwards. She is not taking a punch off some 17st athlete even though he's not trained to punch. She's never applied a triangle or knee bar in her life...her BJJ is not particularly impressive, she just has elite judo and is great at finding an arm for an armbar.

Rousey is one of the most ridiculously over hyped fighters ever. Women's MMA is an incredibly shallow talent pool, and in actual fact the most impressive achievement in her career by far is her Olympic medal, as women's judo is MUCH deeper in talent than women's MMA.

Her bjj is operated? You rolled with her then? You a BJJ black belt yourself?

Never pulled off a knee bar? Not in the octagon no but that doesn't mean she doesn't know how to apply one?

You rearly think an elite Judoka isn't training with top BJJ guys and learning these techniques?

You sound almost retarded, also again you are assuming these rugby players are accurate punchers.

If the 57kg Scottish national wrestling champion could make mince meat of some British Lions players I'm sure Ronda would be in with a chance.

I never said her BJJ was overrated, as nobody ever really talks about it much. Obviously my experience is irrelevant. I can judge a sports person or anyone else in comparison to their peers. I think Al Pacino is a bit overrated as an actor, but I've never been in a film. I don't think Alain Ducasse in London deserves 3 michelin stars, but I don't think I'm a top chef. In fact, pretty much the entire sphere of journalism that revolves around reviews is based off people who are not operating within the fields they judge.

This is akin to Paul Smith telling people they cannot have an opinion of merit on boxing unless they've been a pro boxer.

I am sure she trains them. But when the adrenaline is rushing she does what comes as second nature, muscle memory kicks in and she reverts to what comes naturally. I am 100% sure she trains head movement and shoots...but she's never shot in a fight and she's never moved her head.

Back to the insults I see. I'm not assuming they are accurate punchers, the head is a pretty easy to hit target, drunk brawls see people connecting with each other's heads. A guy with a 1 ft height advantage, at least 10" reach advantage trying to land a blow to someone coming right at them, is not a flight of fancy.

She might be in with a chance. That's pretty different to her applying a mid air triangle if some huge guy picked her up. And if he did, why would he then hold her up in the air? He'd just slam her down. We're not talking about me here, we're talking about some 6ft 6", fucking monster who can squat well over 3 times her body weight.

Janni Larsen was the women's 2014 heavyweight BJJ champion, here is what she said regarding imaging Rousey against a much bigger woman...

"I am sure that Rousey can beat a lot of good Jiu-Jitsu players. I am not sure if she can beat the women in the bigger weight classes in IBJJF. I have a hard time believing that a girl at 60-70 kg can armbar Gabi Garcia, but I am not saying that it is impossible."

This is not due to anything much other than size, strength and weight. She's not saying she couldn't find the arm, she's doubting she could wrench it clear.

If I had said the above, you'd have called me a retard, misused the word literally, offered to fight me and generally lost your shit over the fact that we don't see 100% eye to an eye on one issue.

But experience does matter on this subject. You are claiming someone who rolls wih elite bjj players can't pull of a basic move (that a didn't blue belt could pull off) on a xomplete novice lol.

It's like saying Brandon Rios couldn't check hook you because he doesn't do it in a fight. If you haven't rolled with a high level bjj player then you have no idea how helpless/clueless a novice is in that situation.

The presumption that a big lump whose never boxed can time someone and stop them getting close to them is ridiculous. In fact why would anyone watch boxing if learning the fundamentals was so easy? Surely it makes it an invaluable art.

Stop trying to get the sympathy vote every time you quote me, it was that retard Pedderrs I said was a shithouse. Man up.

TBF Dominic Breazeale can knock someone out just by throwing all of his weight behind a punch

This is a thread that won’t die. Basically it’s a small person with a complex who trains a bit of BJJ and is desperate for everyone to think that size doesn’t matter...chromosomes don’t matter...sex doesn’t matter. All that matters is that training can compensate for genetics and just because you are small doesn’t mean that you can’t beat a giant who also trains albeit in a different discipline.

Sympathy vote? I couldn't give a fuck how many times you hurl out some 12 year old style insult or embarrass yourself by throwing a tantrum when someone disagrees with you. Remember when you were never coming back to this thread?

You don't read what is actually written, you just get angry and infer what you think has been written. Which is why you suggested I said Rousey's BJJ was overrated, when what I actually said was that she was overrated as a fighter due to the shallow talent pool and the glaring flaws in her game. I'm not saying Rousey CANNOT apply a triangle, I am saying that when the adrenaline kicks in she has NEVER shown any ability to change from doing what comes naturally. That's why she carried on bulldozing forwards against Holm when it was clearly not working, and why she tried to do the exact same thing with Nunes.

No doubt she has trained to shoot. Never tried it with Holm. No doubt she's trained to move her head. Didn't do it. But now if she is faced with a 6ft 6" 19 stone man, and he rushes her, she's going to slip his punches because he's not a trained fighter and then apply a kneebar or triangle?

I don't believe she would. I believe she would be pretty much helpless against someone so much bigger and stronger because skill and training only go so far.

This is why I used Sapp as an example originally. He's shit at everything. But he's so stupidly big and powerful he managed to beat Hoost and picked up Nog and dropped him on his head. He did that in 2002, in literally his first year in a combat sport. Mariusz Pudzianowski had no background in any fighting sport, but he was the world's strongest man. He's pretty awful...but he's massive and he KO'd Rolles Gracie Jr in 1 round. Gracie is a 4th degree black belt in BJJ. Pudzianowski is never going anywhere in the sport, but he should not even be remotely competitive with anyone of that level of skill...but he was based on being a freakishly big, strong athlete.

All I am saying, is that when the size and strength difference is HUGE...that some of the skill and training is nullified. We're not talking about you vs me. You'd beat the crap out of me no doubt, because me being a few inches taller and 30 lbs heavier or whatever is not enough to make up the gap. We're talking about a man who is almost a foot taller and double her weight AND is a top athlete. He's going to rag doll her or spark her out. He doesn't need to land a perfectly timed punch, it could clip her head and then he rains in rabbit punches. MMA fighters use hammer fists on downed opponents all the time, there's fuck all technique to them, it's just easy to land and quick.

If I had a complex I'd be saying I'm a good fighter, I've said many times I'm not.

Coming from someone who made comments about another posters wife and was trying to find out where he works, I think it's a bit rich you claiming anyone else has a complex.

Hush yourself sweet cheeks.

Joe Rogan the intellectual on his best most knowledgable subject
Joe took the Ronda hype to Defcon 5 for real he had her on his podcast once and was telling her how amazing she was at fighting and he literally broke down in tears whilst doing so

It was quite funny watching him back track on the subject once she got beat, similar to myself on here he just had to make a joke at his own stupidity and laugh it off. Win some you lose some
