China has just successfully landed a probe on the dark side of the moon.

Looks fake to me, I'll wait for Eddie Bravo's take before I commit to any strong viewpoints.

Somewhere, in some smoke-filled room, Eddie Bravo is going nuts about this shit.

I wonder how close a real 'second space race' is?

Surely we cant let anyone beat us to a permanent base or whatever's next?
Space X is our horse in this race. NASA and JPL are focused on landers and probes instead of colonizing. I could be completely full of shit though so dont hesitate in calling me on it. My feelings can take it. God bless.

Its odd but a lot of the early golden age SF was about 'private' exploration and exploitation of space............stuff from the 30s and 40s like some heinlein for instance...........

I dont think the planets governments are going to allow that sort of wild west type 'space rush' though and will clamp down on the little folks if it gets close to starting..............

Hoping they meet Clangers.
I think we can assume the real motive for this expedition is indeed Clangers-related. Once they became there was both a dragon and an unending supply of soup available, they were always going to tap that resource. The soon-to-be-eaten Clangers are just a happy added benefit. If the poor cunts are unlucky, they'll only eat their legs like they do with sharks fins. The moon will be littered with legless Clangers, whistling away mournfully and in agony, lamenting their harvested limbs and stolen dragon.

“Wah wah Dale’s pissing on my parade in my historically important thread” you pathetic cunt, swim much in your own self importance, you self righteous prick? You do realise that this has been all over the news globally for some time, yeah, if you were at all interested then you could have followed the progress of the probe? You do realise the the western world landed A FUCKING MAN IN THE MOON SOME FIFTY FUCKING YEARS AGO!?

I think the Chinese setting up the first long-distance cryptographically secure( "hacker proof") quantum network ,using the Micius satellite ,last year was the big China space story. Potentially, the Chinese could access the communication networks of the west, while the western might not be able to penetrate China's own secure networks. A headache for western intelligence agencies..

This is probably one of the reasons the US has recently been going after the Chinese government funded telecom giant Huawei and trying to prevent them entering the US market,.

Scientists have taken a major step towards building a global quantum internet by beaming “entangled” particles of light from a satellite to ground stations more than 700 miles apart.
The feat paves the way for a new kind of internet which draws on the curious ability for subatomic particles to be connected to one another despite being far apart and even on opposite sides of the planet.
Researchers believe that by linking particles together in this way, encrypted information could be sent from place to place across a quantum network with no danger of it being decrypted and read by others, as can be done on the existing internet.

Following me from thread to thread spewing barely-coherant bile is his thing. That's what he does here...... every day..... in pretty much every thread that he sees I've posted in. It's hilarious, right? Makes the place so much more fun for everybody. :rolleyes

“Wah wah Dale’s pissing on my parade" You do realise that this has been all over the news globally for some time
You do realise that as I type this, the probe landed twenty-seven hours ago and the thread was created nineteen hours ago? You're an idiot.

"All over the news for some time" (eight hours), and nobody mentioned it on here so I made a thread about it. What a cunt, right?

yeah, if you were at all interested then you could have followed the progress of the probe?
Clearly there is no interest in a discussion about the landing, the geopolitical implications and the possibility of a new space race, right? Guess we should just have three threads in the lounge and follow your example by all sitting around sucking each other's dicks, calling each other faggits and adding absolutely nothing else to the place. Wouldn't that be great. I know it's tough for you to understand, but when people have a three-figure IQ, they sometimes like to talk about things like space exploration. Particularly when something noteworthy happens.

You do realise the the western world landed A FUCKING MAN IN THE MOON SOME FIFTY FUCKING YEARS AGO!?
Truly you are not very smart, are you. You probably thought that was quite an astute, relevant point, right? Yep..... because you're a simpleton. :patsch

Stop whining you little bitch.

You love playing the victim yet it's you who likes to snipe at Dale and others any chance you get. That road rage thread was a perfect example. Another was the creepy/ eerie thread.

Learn to keep our names outta your mouth and we might just leave you be.

We need to hear from @Wig as to whether or not this event actually happened.

definitely some muscle flexing going on there - good for them though

Do you you remember last year or the year before India launched some rocket that cost less than that George Cloony Space movie costs ???
Yeah there's a literal black hole that sucks in finances in most US industries. Particularly the space and defence ones by comparison. The F22 program is a perfect example.

Remember sputnik? That caught the yanks off guard. Probably a similar thing will happen but China will maintain the momentum better.

That and America doesn't have a driven leader like Kennedy anymore. That and too many people of influence having fingers in the financial pie.

What I'm saying is if there is another space race America's gonna be the Soviets this time. When the shift happens it's not going to be gradual but blunt and traumatic. There's more Chinese kids in university than there are American citizens. :rofl

I'm sure China will land men on Mars 1st. When that happens America is going to look so foolish on the world stage. Everyone will look at you guys differently.

Fuck’s sake, you, of all people calling others simpletons  you do realise this probe has been followed in the media for a lot longer than just when it landed, you basic cunt? It was reported in the global media from before it was launched, you where aware of that, yeah, you dumb cunt? And you refer to people with triple digit iq’s liking to talk about things like space exploration so what are you doing getting involved, best you sit this one out then, you low iq having imbecile?
