Been to a few places now. Few in St Andrews and a few in Finnieston in Glasgow.

Enjoyed it, and everyone seemed to be trying their best to stay sensible. It's not risk free, and it's not the same as it used to be, but if you are happy enough to just talk to the people you came with, and take that risk, you can enjoy it.

It's the wee traditional boozers that lose out the most. I've either sat outside, or been at a private booth, and that's not always possible with a proper pub.

Closest I've been was the Park bar and Islay Inn, and in both of those we had a table away from most other people.

Also been to Dukes and the Dockyard Social of you know any of them.
Yeah, one mate said the atmosphere was killed for him while another said he quite enjoyed having a booth to himself and table service.

I've been in all those places bar Dockyard Social but funnily enough I was trying to plan to go there because it had just came on my radar with the global street food market thing but Coronavirus put paid to those plans. I like most of the boozers down in Finnieston, some mates were talking abut organising a night on the piss soon now that things are a bit more open. It's long overdue.

Russian health authorities are preparing to start a mass vaccination campaign against coronavirus in October, the health minister has said.

Russian media quoted Mikhail Murashko as saying that doctors and teachers would be the first to receive the vaccine.

Reuters, citing anonymous sources, said Russia's first potential vaccine would be approved by regulators this month.

However, some experts are concerned at Russia's fast-track approach.

On Friday, the leading infectious disease expert in the US, Dr Anthony Fauci, said he hoped that Russia - and China - were "actually testing the vaccine" before administering them to anyone.

You mean you don’t agree with what he’s saying? Just listen to the words, not the voice or who’s delivering them.

You’ll find yourself nodding in harmonious agreement.
um

thats wonderful

it only took 150k dead Americans and plummeting poll numbers for him to make a sane statement on the subject, almost certainly against his will, that was written by someone else

fantastic

what a beacon of strong, clear headed leadership the man is

a bright orange becon of truth and sanity in a sea of madness, yeah?

I dont know what yer point is...................unless its trying to get one of the actual right wing tards to agree that its a brilliant statement and thus show them to be dumber than we already thought they were..................for the reasons expressed above,of course

Well, it’s pretty obvious that the post was tongue-in-cheek. I think the ‘stand and salute’ bit highlighted that, surely?
Haggis must have had a rough time at the call centre last night?

That said, of course people need to take some ownership and responsibility for their actions. There’s plenty of evidence that a certain portion of society give less than zero fucks about all the recommended measures......and you have a group on the other side who give zero fucks as they think it’s all a hoax.

Considering how many countries are working on vaccines and how likely it is that some will become available soon, I think it's completely irrational for any state to be rushing one into production without proper checks beforehand. Just pay for the vaccines which have been proven to be safe. The interesting alternative is that the Russians have hacked information, so maybe that's why they're bullish about it's success?

Fauci's line here isn't particularly decent, I don't think:

"I do not believe that there will be vaccines so far ahead of us that we will have to depend on other countries to get us vaccines," he told US lawmakers."

Even if a US vaccine is two weeks behind any other, that's an awful lot of people who are being condemned to death for the sake of national bragging rights. I don't want any country to have to wait for it, whenever a vaccine comes, every country should be ordering whatever they can for their population.

Are all countries chasing vaccines working in isolation? It seems that way to me but I’ve not really read much in it. Surely working closely, together will save money, time, resources and possibly create the best options?

Germ/viral warfare is definitely where the next war will be won. Develop killer virus, in tandem with vaccine. Inoculate citizens, release vaccine, rule the world.

Dockyard is well set up for this. It's big, open plan, and the fresh air circulates. You need to book, it's got a one way system, and it's contactless

Look, me personally, I wouldn't take a rushed vaccine, same goes for the American version. The thing is that, logically, vaccinations for SARS/MERS was already created a long time ago and were passed through preclinicals, according to the patent of the NIH's spike protein I've read. Of course, China and Russia likely would've had committed more progress towards the development of a vaccine than the US. Russia and China do not share a lot of their knowledge of infectious disease research.

Fauci, obviously would not know since he's likely not given US intelligence... who knows here, though. I wouldn't be asking Fauci, is all I have to say. I would be looking at CIA intelligence or something to ascertain Russia and China's capabilities in this department.

Phylogenetically, they have shown that treatments seem to hold stable for COVID-19 and SARS/MERS. MRNA's mRNA-1273, the US's leading candidate for the vaccine, is merely the patented NIH spike protein from their study of SARS/MERS.

https://www.niaid.nih.gov/diseases-conditions/covid-19
NIAID COVID-19 research efforts build on earlier research on severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), which also are caused by coronaviruses.

Feels like this is something that China and Russia could've easily leapfrogged the US with with their more robust knowledge of SARS, especially, since China was hit the hardest with that disease and Russia borders it. Just thinking out loud here, though.
