Crawford v. Brook

I predicted stoppage after round 9. I was both right, and wrong, but more right.

Brook had no idea where he was after that first knockdown.
And this caused me great concern, wonderful timing by ref. Weeks in hindsight because afterwards Brook asked his trainer "What just happened?". Did you see Crawford's reaction to the stoppage, to me it seemed he was literally about to stick his tongue out at Brook and celebrate when he realised that Brook was in bad shape and his expression instantly turned to one of deep concern for a fellow athlete, he looked despondent for a few seconds and then Weeks was trying to get Brook away from Crawford until Crawford said (I think) "I wanna hug him" (that sounded like what he said) and then Weeks understood Crawford wasn't going to gloat or antagonise Brook.

Although I knew Brook was getting stopped as most of us did, I didn't expect it would be after the first meaningful shot landed, people are comparing Crawford's win and Spence Jr's win and noting that there was a 7 round difference but I think if Spence Jr fought this version of Brook he would do a similar job, not to take anything away from Bud though but unfortunately he was never going to get the credit Spence Jr got for beating Brook as his stock had dropped significantly since that fight.

And the thing with that stoppage is Crawford was fighting southpaw at the time and got him with a right hook type punch high on the head and not flush on the chin. Brook really had no idea where he was after that initial punch from what I could tell and was going to take more damage if the ref didn't step in like he did.

Great job by Weeks.

Brook would still annihilate Khan, that would be a nice farewell fight for both, sell out the O2, both make a few million.
Before the Spence fight I would have agreed with you totally. The way Brook looked on Saturday, I give Khan a pretty good chance of stopping him.

I certainly wouldn’t count it out as Brook does seem to have lost his punch resistance, but Brook (albeit briefly) was outboxing Crawford and got hit with a big shot that ended the fight, where as Khan was getting soundly out boxed after getting heavily dropped in the first and never looked at any point to be in Crawford level. I think Khan has gone downhill as far as Brook but more importantly think Brooks style is an absolute nightmare for Khan.
