I think Plant has a very good chance at this early stage of Benavidez's career. I think Plant would successfully take the early rounds, he would need to do enough damage early to try and stage off the inevitable onslaught he would face late. It's a very good fight to make, I mean ever so slightly towards Plant at this exact moment in time.

Plant's stamina is quite bad Benavidez would start getting to him late but could be a close decision for either, I could see Benavidez stopping/dropping him late and winning

I don't like what I've been seeing in Benavidez's last few fights. Compared to the brilliant prospect of a few years ago, he looks rather lethargic and even sloppy. I can't just shrug and say it's due to ring rust. That's lousy training.

Either his Dad has run out of ideas, or David has gotten lazy. They'd damn well better get their act together before facing Plant.
Plant isn't just skilled. He has height & reach, so Bena will need to get his hand speed & relexes back, throw a LOT of punches, and be much more accurate than he's been lately.

I like what I've seen from Plant, you can really see him coming into his style. He does have a few bad habits that could cost him if someone bothers to actually press him

Really good fight.

Would be great if we could get this and BJS - Smith this year.

I think Benavidez is the more naturally talented, but he seems lazy and ill disciplined. I think he can win the fight in the later rounds, but it could go either way.

Will pick properly closer to the fight.

No.

So what's the answer?
Uzcategui made Thompson look like Plant. Wide decision loss. I have to wonder what is happening to Uzcategui. Maybe Dirrell was just that bad or something, but Uzcategui is appalling considering he was once a top 5 fighter.

I hope Benavidez wins this. I don't like Plant's style. Also, Plant's win against Uzcategui is not aging well at all.
I like Caleb's style but from what I see, he doesn't have the firepower to get Benavidez respect. Like you said Caleb has bad stamina which really points to him getting stopped in the late rounds.

I think your wrong. Plant looks to have excellent power to me. IMO, his "average" KO percentage is due more to the fact that he's a very careful fighter, and doesn't take foolish chances. He typically throws from obtuse angles, scoring points rather than going for big damage. When he DOES sit down on his punches, he looks to have perfect technique. Combine that with his exceptional hand speed, and he simply can't be featherfisted.

The one possible issue could indeed be his stamina, though. Hard to say. - But if it goes to the cards, as I suspect it will, then (sadly) the fighter that throws (not lands) the most punches will have the best chance of winning, due to incompetent / corrupt judges and idiot "punch stat" input-monkees. That fighter will surely be Benavidez, if Benavidez fights the way he used to.

Benavidez throws a lot more, and arguably has even faster hands, but he's not as mobile and his offense is somewhat predictable. Plant is much better at controlling the ring, and has a much more varied arsenal,.
It's a fascinating matchup. Gun to my head, I vote for a Plant decision, but only if the judges aren't paid off for Bena.

I hate to see either of these guys lose !

He has respectable power, he stays on the back foot. He's dropped dudes repeatedly with one shot

Feigenbutz is no bum. That man came to win and never quit.

Plant is just THAT good.

And so is Benavidez. This could be FOTY if / when it ever happens. (My money will be on Plant)
