Liked his books as a teen. In today's world his conspiracy is nothing special and obviously contributes nothing good to a already cooked society

Icke is an absolute different level of batshit compared to everyone else. I don't see how you can't love the guy
Because he spreads idiotic poison that ruins vulnerable people's lives and makes the public discourse even stupider and more filled with ridiculous fantasy nonsense?

"I can't be a 24-hour cheerleader for Hezbollah, Moscow, Tehran, Beijing, and Trump anymore. It's wrong. Period. I know it gets you views now, but it will kill your brand over the long run. This isn't a revolution. It's a joke."

He's unlike pretty much every other conspiracy theorist in that he was a credible broadcaster/activist before he started spouting conspiratorial nonsense. Obviously most of what he says is bollocks but he was earning a comfortable living before turning to conspiracies and financially it actually did him a lot of damage before it started to make money for him. He's pretty much the only conspiracy theorist who I think is completely sincere. Batshit, but he really does believe what he says.

This is true. He is clearly legitimately mentally ill, so I actually don't have any real contempt for Icke the way I feel I should have (along with some grudging respect ) for a cynical profiteer like Alex Jones. But I know a couple of guys who started down the Eddie Bravo YouTube path, and five years later they'd lost their jobs and their partners and their friends and their social skills, and they just became paranoid shut-ins. That shit is poison, and it's not a laugh, it's actually pretty dangerous and it ruins a lot of people's lives.

It´s not about being mentally ill.
It´s about believing, and being raised believing (Alex Jones was raised by a paranoid dad that hated the Government), that the Government is the enemy, the Government is this and that, the Governemnt is this big vilain and wants to destroy the people etc.

Why do you think mostly it is americans that are conspiracy theorists ? Because in their culture you should never trust the State.

I'm always in genuine disbelief at the people who actually believe this stuff. I find Jones hilarious in isolation, but only because I cannot watch him and think that any reasonable, rational person is going to take him seriously. Sadly a scary number of people are not reasonable or rational.

I too have a grudging respect for Icke, one because his turn to conspiracies wrecked his reputation and family life and made him a national laughing stock, and yet he still ended up making a fortune and basically having the last laugh in the end. Two, because he's pretty much the only whackjob theorist who is totally sincere and is happy to debate and have a serious (to him, anyway) discussion with pretty much anyone. I mean, he legit held his own in a debate with Andrew Neil, which is more than can be said for Alex Jones, Ben Shapiro and lots of "credible" politicians.

Alex definitely wants to make the more money possible with his thing, but he definitely is not acting in its core.
