Brit/Ire DAZN launching in the U.K. (The end for SS/Matchroom)

  • CHB will be closing down as of 31st July 2021. It's been a brilliant experience to run the website for the past 9 years, however it's time for me to move onto different projects. Thanks to every single person involved, from staff, former staff, posters old and current. All support means more than anyone knows. Thanks for your understanding.

DAZN will be gone in 12 months.

good riddance.
You’re probably right. Whenever something comes along and everybody goes “I just don’t see how they make it work with the numbers?”, it doesn’t mean their is some secret genius at work behind closed doors, where us idiots can’t figure it out. It means it won’t work and it’ll fail.

The production of the product is garbage isn't it. For something that has been so heavily backed the look and coverage comes across as a tinpot BoxNation.

EH had recently answered it was "a Very Difficult" decision after saying last year that resigning with Sky was almost a guarantee. Terrible outcome for Sky subscribers who will now have to pay for DAZN as well to see any boxing (I'm sure their prices will rocket to £10 a month given this). I understand why for EH and Matchroom this is where the money is but this will make him even more unpopular.

Suits me, sick of paying for Sky just to watch the boxing.. That said if they replace Hearn with other promoters I may see how it goes before cancelling.

Well for those who pay for Sky for the Ensemble of sports it is just another piece stripped away. I can't see who Sky can get, I guess they may try and poach Warren from BT? Otherwise it's just small fry on local shows with area titles at best.

Yes, I remember when I used to have the Sky Sports Pack when they used to put on Ringside and Toe to Toe every week and every big fight wasn't on PPV but not only that, Sky had exclusivity on the UEFA Champions League and most of the Premier League fixtures and all of the top games but then over time bit by bit the package started reducing whilst the price remained the same

Can't wait for the Adam Smith interview once the DAZN/Matchroom deal is formally announced, this is the only time I've looked forward to hearing from him
