Deontay Wilder is just a built up bum with a good right hand...

Manufactured as fuck as opposed to competing against the best like tennis players or amateur boxers. But, such is how professional boxing is organized: everyone's built up to a certain extent. Some more than others. In a sense I could say "don't hate the player, hate the game".

He was Michael grant 2.0, only difference was he got hold of a paper trinket and Luis Ortiz was his Andrew Golota

I have had that opinion ever since I first saw one of his bouts. All I could see was a ton of faults and his only redeeming quality was that sledgehammer right hand.

Lousy footwork, lousy ring generalship, horribly amateurish punching technique and the great equalizer being the right hand that if it connected squarely had opponents stepping in post holes.

His punching technique seemed to improve a bit but in almost every fight I saw he'd swing those windmill punches, flailing like a girl in a bitch fight and his feet would fly off the canvas, thus losing real power behind those silly punches.

Even in his bronze medal bout vs Russo you could clearly see that he was technically/tactically very limited.

The fact that he made it to the (financial) top in pro boxing speaks volumes about the quality of pro boxing and its fighters.

Those silly punches have collapsed every heavyweight he's faced. If there was a more jumpy ref same woulda happened to Fury.

You should be old enough to remember the days where being the toughest hardest hitting sonofabitch on the block could take you to championship level.

As someone who walked into the gym at 19 and saved his daughters life and frankly kept the heavyweight division in America on life support you should have more respect.

Oh, and you're forgetting about how he got KO'd by Fury in the last fight?????

And yes, I'm old enough to remember hard hitting heavyweights, but guess what, Cassius Clay broke the will of one Sony Liston in the early 60's and became the heavyweight champion of the world----and he did it with ring generalship, speed of foot and hand and well placed punches, not overwhelming power.

As far as respect goes, I do respect anyone who climbs between the ropes to fight in the ring, but that doesn't mean I have to like what they are doing in there and can't criticize them for their lack of ability------------and Wilder is woefully lacking in a lot of the ability that makes a great champion with the exception of a killer right hand.

Come back at me when you have something worthwhile to say.

Yeah, shocking fighters lose. How dare they. You seem like you have something personal against Wilder. A juco football receiver from bumfuck Alabama who had a go and saved his daughters life. Made Fury completely change his style because he knew he'd have gotten flattened

Let's be honest if you saw Wilder in the street you'd be on your ps and qs like a good little boy

This is why boxing is dead, people like you sitting around trashing everyone for not being a combination of Whitaker, Chavez and Ali. Why MMA has completely taken over even though most of their top fighters have been obliterated a time or two. Can't just enjoy a guy who brings excitement to the ring.

I'm starting to think you're Deontay Wilder, a family member of Deontay Wilder or you're such a fan boy/girl that you truly can't see his faults as a fighter.

And if that is the best argument you can bring, you're hopelessly outgunned.

So, I see you edited your original post to add even more to make it sound like you know what you're talking about, but swung and missed badly.

First of all, boxing isn't dead by any means. Before this virus hit and venues having fight cards were shut down, there were thousands of cards every week all over the world. Go to BoxRec and look to see who's fighting who and where.

Just because I find fault, or should I say many faults in Wilder's technique in the ring doesn't mean I won't watch his fights----if nothing else but for the comedic value he often brings, i.e. the windmill punches, lousy footwork, after the post-fight excuses which were plenty after losing to Fury------they were comedic gold.

Oh, and as for MMA, yes I like that sport too for the most part, but prefer boxing. And yes, like all combat sports, MMA fighters lose, but they are fighting at a more complex skill set when compared to boxing with way more to know to be a very good competitor.

I'm waiting.

Lol boxing used to be front page news, now it's a niche sport I doubt anyone who isn't a fan of boxing could name the welterweight or middleweight champion. Yet McGregor and Khabib are household names. The only ones keeping boxing alive are Mexicans and the Brits. In America it's down there with Tennis.

Except when the heavyweight division finally had two exciting heavyweights go at in Fury and Wilder and it'll be front page news again whenever the third fight happens.

But I don't think you're gonna change your opinion, typical of your generation. Like I said if Wilder was in the same room as you you'd turn into a meek 3 year old real quick.

Skill wise he's the worst top level fighter I've seen and that's no exaggeration. How he managed to even get to the Olympics let alone fuckin medal amazes me. Obviously there was some very soft matchmaking in the pros on the way up to protect him and the amount of fights he had before he got his shot is proof of that. But he genuinely does belong in the conversation with the hardest punchers in the history of the sport and anyone who disputes that is a fuckin moron. There's countless heavyweights who are more skilled than him and will never achieve a fraction of what Wilder has.

He's relatively fast and his straight 1-2 down the pipe is very good but other than insane power he doesn't have anything else really. He's quite patient too in the last couple of years. That is until he has someone visibly hurt and he starts windmilling like fuck.

I gave up hope of Wilder improving technically. I long held hope that we'd see more of a boxer by this stage and thought his defences after winning the title would bring him on alot but it never happened. I actually believe his awkwardness in the ring is now a an attribute. I also think there's a lot of yes men in the camp namely Jay Deas. Mayweather offered to help him after Fury battered him and if I was him I'd take him up on it. It's likely that it's too late for him to really improve but I think he should try it and keep Breland around also.

And you wouldn't have a single thing to say if Deontay was white.

But there you go.

Have a nice day.

I've heard people comparing Fury to Ali. Again if all Fury did was TKO an opponent who the media and fans basically depicted as a retard with big punch then why all the accolades?
