I would have originally called it 80-20 in AJ's favour but after Ortiz and and last night I give Wilder a better chance than that. Maybe 70-30, 65-35 or something like that. Yes, he is still technically shit but he has shown that he has the toughness and heart to come through adversity and his chin is a lot better than most of us thought. Then of course he has the power to take you out with one shot at anytime.

We would have a very, very interesting fight on our hands. But I have always thought that would be the case.

If Joshua doesn't stop Wilder in, say, 6 rounds, then Wilder will KO him.

Wilder has proven he has freakish power, all he needs is just a grazing shot and you're down. Fury has recovery powers of the gods and that's the only reason why he wasn't stopped. Joshua recovers well but no where near as well as Fury did.

You have to be absolutely perfect against Wilder and not get hit in the slightest by that right hand. Joshua's fundamentals are miles better than Wilder's, but AJ gets hit a lot and Wilder will get him at some point.

Fury was perfect the whole fight apart from 2 moments, and the second moment almost killed him. Joshua can't do what Fury was able to.

Wilder gets to him I'm almost positive.

Also think that if Joshua did go down, unlike Fury he has not the boxing nous to survive the rest of the round.

I'd take Joshua over Wilder at the moment.

But you've gotta believe that if Wilder had him hurt like Klitschko did, Wilder wouldn't be letting him off the hook in the same way.

Has there ever been a case in boxing history where fighters could fight for all 4 (or 3 before the WBO was recognised) belts and still only be #2 in their division?

When Wlad had a load of belts and Vitali was WBC champ?
The WBC is one of the main belts though.

I meant has a fighters held all of the main belts at the time and not been recognised as number 1. Pre 2000ish that would have meant a fighter holding WBC/WBA/IBF at the same time. Since around then it’d mean holding all 4.

Like the boxing nous Fury showed by getting back up and getting torn into him.

Truth is if he got back up as Tyson did (let's be honest, no other human on earth is likely to get up as Tyson did) he probably reacts in the same way, he gets up swinging.

We now have an AJ vs Fury thread and an AJ vs Wilder thread.
My thoughts are pretty similar in both.
I though AJ was favourite against Tyson prior to this weekend, I still think he is.
I though AJ was favourite against Wilder prior to this weekend, I still think he is.

Difference being Fury showed he was not the shot fighter some (quite rightly) suspected he might be, so the gap has closed and I'm closer to where I was on this potential match up to where I was in 2015, where I could barely split them.

My view regards AJ vs Wilder has barely changed. I had it about 70/30 before and still do. I know Wilder could knock him out but I simply think Joshua is the all round better fighter and probably smashes him up

AJ against either man is an entirely different fight with entirely different game plans from any of them, than we saw from Fury and Wilder at the weekend, so a lot of predictions people have made comparing certain variables feel a little redundant to me.

Round and about
Physically it looked like man and boy in there at the weekend. AJ, like Tyson, is also considerably more of a man that Wilder, with the added bonus of possessing much more firepower. Wilder has a puncher's chance against anyone though.

I think AJ stops him within 5 or gets sparked himself. He can't avoid Wilders power for 12 rounds but he can definitely steamroll him.

I think fury AJ is a great fight now. I'd edge toward fury but I think AJ would be far more competitive than wilder and could out work Tyson with sharp combinations. EDIT: I should say competitive in every round, obviously Wilders power made him competitive but you get my point.

Wouldn't like to bet on either fight tbh

I can only assume AJ has alot of fans on here because as someone who doesn't care who wins and looks at the fight impartially I honestly cant see anything but a Wilder win by KO. There were even people of Twitter yesterday saying AJ has more skill than Fury and probably hits harder than Wilder so would 100% beat both of them.

Joshua is just too stiff and robotic to get close enough to Wilder enough to lad a flurry of punches for a "Joshua stoppage" and he will inevitably get hit at some stage, and I think if your aren't some sort of super human gypsy fighting man then taking a shot from Wilder means you probably go to kip for a bit.
