Just done the first run/jog on that work out plan GazOC , went well for first 1 and 1/4 miles then I had to slow to a very light jog, and towards the end of my 2 1/2 mile route I did walk a little.

Was good running to my body opposed to the c25k podcast, also had my own music opposed to their shite euro house

It was almost a no go for running when I had some how wiped the Rocky soundtrack off my ipod!

I much prefer audiobooks/podcasts/interviews to music, especially when working out.

For me, it's the opposite - I know all the songs and tunes, and lengths. I know how many songs etc. have played, and thus how far I have (or more likely haven't) travelled. Listening to interviews/podcasts and especially audiobooks - I don't have the same track of time, so I can just get lost into listening to material that isn't repetitive (in my brain - that i recognise), and it works out much better - when I'm a celeb was on (I never ever watch it normally), I enjoyed running on the treadmills listening to and watching it on the gym tv much more than any music/playlist of mine.

Not just running - but general gym/every day stuff as well.

I keep meaning to give audio books a go when running but I tend to zone out a lot which is OK with music but I'm not sure would work with podcasts and audio books.

Which program did you go for Noon? The 10K one?

10k novice, on cross training days is a 45 min brisk walk with the missus adequate?

Yeah mate. Its basically means take it easy, don't do any impact sports where your legs are getting battered. Walking, bike, cross trainer etc. are all OK but stuff like squash, football etc should be avoided.

Walking is so much fun, I live in an area with loads of foreigners, so there are loads of shops and restaurants with foreign signs/lettering. So I take pictures when I'm out and ask people from school to translate. It got a bit scary when I took pictures of some Chinese place, the guy behind the counter came out so I had to run away in case he was a bellend.

-

Also, I'm on about seven miles a day on the treadmill, slowly moving up in speed. The fastest speed on my treadmill is 10mph, hopefully in a few months I'll be able to do a full hour run on it. I've made so much progress, I can still remember when I'd struggle just do a mile at about 8min 34 seconds. Weight was down to 149.6lbs this morning, I'm hoping just get down as low as possible to offset the damage that will be done when I'm in Madrid.

I'm trying to do press-ups a few times a day, I don't think that I've got to ten yet, but I'm working on it. :p

Have you downloaded the 100 press ups app yet? thats based on 3 lots per week, I bet you'll be doing 10 inside a week.

Good going 17. I started that press up app only being able to 1 set of 11. Its pretty surprising how quickly you start getting better at them.

Ran a 5 mile road race today in 32:19. Not happy with with the time, should be looking at 31:00 to 31:30 mins, but not that pissed off either as my legs were still a bit heavy from a long run on Tuesday.

Nice one Noon. Try slowing it down a bit next time so you can run all the way, even if the total time isn't as quick.

Will do, gonna do this distance again Sunday instead of the increased milage, and try and get round in 1!

Got a new 10K PB yesterday at Wrexham 10K. 39:22, came 22nd out 397 runners overall and 5th out of 55 in my category (Male 40-45). Very happy!
