Another set about the same distance awah... slightly different direction (basically the two sellers are about 20 miles apart from each other...so I'm thinking of doing a kill two birds with one stone roadtrip).

First few pics are the sellers.

I looked up the info and found the old JC Penny's catalog listing.

Pieces look a bit duller...but pretty sure they can be polished.

80 miles will take you an hour and a bit. Do it. That's gorgeous.
Drueke chess sets are actually really collectible...even the more economic sets.

They were the premier chess set markers in the United States for a good century and went totally out of business 20 some years ago.

I have five watches specifically in my collection...all together they are worth over 20,000 dollars... Omega Seamaster 2254, Omega Seamaster 2532, Tudor 1926, Tudor Glamour Day Date 18kt Gold, Vintage 1980's Rolex Datejust. The Rolex alone is worth over 6 thou.
Damn, that's badass. A good watch collection is on my bucket list, but for the moment I just wear a Samsung Galaxy for convenience. :thumbsup

I tell every one they should at least try to get one nice one... like 2500 dollars or above... throw it on a credit card and pay it off over time... The Rolexes and Omegas keep their value so you will always have what you paid for and more. You can even get a Tag or an Oris for around only 1000 which is great quality for the price as well. Just stay away from the "designer" brand watches... I can't stand when I see someone dropping 1000 bucks on a Gucci watch which is basically a fucking quartz fossil watch only with the word Gucci written on it.

You can pretty much see the quality of these high end ones just looking at them... My Rolex Date just on the end to the right was made in 1981...39 years old and still runs smooth as it did the day it was made.

Nicely done. :thumbsup

Yeah, I'd love to have a collection like that, but realistically if I'm going to spend $20k on luxury items, I'd buy a sensory deprivation tank.

Never collected them, but I used to regularly read the Beano, the Dandy and the Topper.
Sometimes Sparky and occasionally the Hornet.

I had around 10 years of Beano comics, I never should have sold them :(

And many of Hotspur:

2000 AD was also very good. Way ahead of it's time

... and a small trophy from each of my victims.
Years (decades) ago, I used to keep a pair of knickers from each 'victim' if I could get them surreptitiously (i.e. by theft).
After an embarrassing incident, I tossed the lot and decided to stick to stamps. I subsequently mislaid my stamp collection during a move and now I collect nothing.

I have a lot of books but as somebody else said, that's functional and I don't really consider it a collection.

Ou yes... I almost forgot the Hotspur.

Used to read it now and again.

I especially liked the ANNUAL versions of comics that were usually q jumbo version of the weekly offering.

This takes me back nearly six decades to Desperate Dan, Minnie the Minx, Lord Snooty and his pals, Winker Watson et al...fun times !

I have a skin allergy to metal (probably mostly nickel) hence no watch nor any other jewelry.

That watch collection looks sharp.
