Aye, and those sentences... Jesus! Forty year stretch knocked down to ten for good behaviour - then has his boxing career - then it all goes tits up again, and he's sent down for 160 years . Fair enough, kidnapping women and children and shooting at cops, he deserves an extended time-out. It's down to just the 105 years on a technicality I see, but still, that's a brutal sentence considering no-one ended up dead. It sounds as though he's living much more constructively inside though, anyway.Looks like Etienne's life went full circle. He was in prison when he turned to boxing and Les Bonano took him on as his trainer/manager here in the N.O. area and got him lots of fights.
He climbed in the rankings and had some big fights in his career, beating Lawrence Clay Bey and Lamon Brewster, but losses to Fres Oquendo, Mike Tyson, Calvin Brock and Nicolay Valuev ended his run.
And yeah, the reference to "Good Times" is a good one. I like the subject matter though and shows another, softer side of the guy besides the thug life he couldn't step away from.
Kind of like another Tony Ayala minus the sick sexual shit he did to land him in prison on multiple occasions.
