Thank fuck.

And yes, yes I would. Me and the wife just had a chat a few days ago about the worst careers we could have and a 999 operator was the one she chose for me.
For me it's the most interesting job I've ever had, even though 95% of it is either boring or routine. Although I have plenty of scare stories lined up for my goddaughter in a few years about teenage girls who thought they could get as drunk as they want and nothing terrible could ever happen because they're invincible.

I chose a suicide hotline operator for her, seen as she's shit at making people feel good about themselves.
:rofl

I might keep that one for use in real life, if you don't mind.

I have worked in one of those, not as an operator but a tradesman repairing an air conditioner. There was a silent red flashing beacon that would go off when there was an incoming call and we would have to drop our tools and exit to allow the operator to take it in privacy.
This happened at least a dozen times in half a day. A one hour job took over four hours.

A few hours later, she murdered her 7 year old son and then killed herself.

15 year old Dorothy posted this, and then killed her girlfriend and herself after the girlfriend broke up with her.

This one was sent while she was walking home through the woods. Her corpse was found the next day.

Shot himself in the head in front of a school resource officer who was trying to talk him out of it.

The next day, he killed 4 classmates and himself because he was upset that a girl wouldn't date him.

Skylar Neese was a 15 year old girl. Her two "friends" were in a lesbian relationship, Skylar knew about it, and they were afraid she'd spill their secret. So the day after Skylar posted this, they took her out to the woods and killed her. Took more than six months for her remains to be discovered.

Last Tweets of a guy who was about to set off and murder three cops before being killed by SWAT.

19 year old out drinking in the wrong place at the wrong time. A few minutes later, a train derailed and buried her under several tonnes of coal.

She slipped and fell to her death as she got up from taking this picture.

Died of alcohol poisoning that night.

Local news reporter Jessica Redfield responds to be friend by tweeting "Movie doesn't start for 20 minutes."

That puts her between 30-45 minutes away from being murdered by this guy:

The tweets are interesting, but some of them are a little inaccurate, some in a really small fashion, and others in a way that does change things a bit in terms of the idea of them capturing a moment just before tragedy.

This one...

That is two tweets, the stalker one was made on August 12th, and the scared one on August 18th. She tweeted a lot between then and her last tweet of August 23rd. This is her Twitter...you can see her final tweets were pretty banal, and although the case has never been solved, there is not really any evidence of an ongoing stalker.

Might have been over a girl, but reading the wiki it's far from clear cut. Two of those shot were his cousins, and up until a few days before he had a girlfriend who dumped him because he became violent, and she was not one of those targeted. The idea he asked out his cousin's girlfriend seems a bit like speculation, but could obviously be true.

This one is pretty accurate, although the lesbian bit is again speculation, it was a pretty famous case. I think a documentary was made about it, and this is some interesting additional data...

Is another one that has been slightly changed to make it more eerie. She did fall to her death but not getting up from that picture or even on that same day. The following day she was hiking the area again with friends, and tried to make space for other hikers coming the other way and then slipped and fell.

Castle Duckula.

This photograph shows the severity of damage sustained by a Handley-Page Halifax aircraft.
I believe it was caused by German Anti-Aircraft rockets.

Flak always terrified me. Good thing I've never been in a situation that has resulted in it being a issue. The injuries that people would have gotten would have been horrific.

Colourized vintage crime scene photos. Lots of blood but no real gore, I'll chuck spoiler tags on anyway. :thumbsup

Andrew Borden (of the Lizzie Borden murders) dead on his couch with multiple axe wounds to his skull.

Black Dahlia. Under the blanket she is cut in half at the waist. Nobody was ever caught.

Al Capone's boss Frankie Yale got into a car chase /shootout with rival gangsters. He ate a shotgun blast and a couple of rounds from a submachine gun to the face:

For fuck’s sake Haggis.

You can tell what some of those people were thinking the moment before they got whacked.
I’m pretty sure the guy in the last photo left his oven on.

I’ve never even heard of that Black Dahlia one.
I think there was a movie made about it a few years back. I vaguely remember watching it.

From memory, the jist of the story is that she was a young actress in Hollywood who was found on a grass verge on a residential street cut in half. Really strange case and nobody was ever caught.

Yeah, I read about it as soon as I saw the photo, that’s fucking crazy.

What an odd murder to happen on just one occasion. Normally when you see these freakish and specific mutilations and such a clinically clean crime scene it’s some psycho on a spree of similar murders trying to fulfil some weird urge. This seems like a one-off.

I just stumbled on an article about former heavyweight Clifford Etienne. Apparently he'll be in prison now until the day he dies but he's become a jail house artist/painter.

I'm not sure where he gets his inspiration from, but each one of them looks like that painting from the end of that theme song from the 1970's television show "Good Times". :sad5

On June 22, 2006, following his trial in Baton Rouge, Etienne was found guilty and sentenced to 160 years in prison without parole for an allegedly cocaine-fueled crime spree that included robbing a check cashing business, carjacking and attempting to shoot a police officer.[3] In April 2013 his sentence was reduced from 160 years to 105 years due to a technicality.[4] Etienne is now a painter, painting artwork from prison.

To tell you the truth there's something very likable about them, maybe it's the rawness.

So the next time you feel like maybe you're a pathetic loser who has ruined his life and has nothing going for him...... well...... at least you aren't this guy.

(Long post coming)

From the WaPo:

Grant Amato had a problem, and it was ripping his family apart.
Outside the walls of his family’s well-manicured home in a rural area northeast of Orlando, the 29-year-old could have been mistaken for another luckless young man surfing through a bad patch — lost his job, kicked out of school, living at home.
But inside the house, Amato was gobbling up whatever money he could steal. He lifted $150,000 from his parents, Chad and Margaret. His brother Cody lost $60,000; when that was gone, Amato stole his brother’s guns and sold them. Amato even took out a $65,000 loan on the house.

(end of WaPo article)

Where did the $200,000 plus that he stole from his family go to?

To this lovely lady.

Who, to be fair, is smoking hot.

But she's a Bulgarian cam girl. This sad sack of shit sent her more than $200k of his parents and brothers money in a little more than three months! :rofl

Anyway, his family knew what was going on, and wasn't impressed.

They had a family meeting about it. Imagine the shame of being 29 years old, unemployed, and having a family meeting (including your brother) about how you gotta stop stealing your parents' retirement savings and giving them to Eastern European cam whores, or your folks will kick you out of their house. :rofl:patsch

Oh yeah, and he was unemployed because he'd been caught stealing narcotics at his previous job (as a nurse) and giving them to patients without authorisation. And that little escapade also got him kicked out of anesthesiologist school, which is a pretty good (and lucrative) trade. :patsch

Anyway, one of his parent's conditions for continuing to live with them (as well as not being in contact with Sylvie, obviously) was that he go do a 60 day stay in a porn addicts rehab facility.

He walked out after two weeks, and returned to the family home.

After returning home, his father presented Amato with a two-page list of rules he was required to follow if he wanted to continue living at home.

One of the conditions was that he cease all communication with the Bulgarian woman. According to the eventual arrest affidavit, Amato would later explain to police that he agreed, “but he didn’t think they were fair because he felt that the Bulgarian female was his girlfriend and they had a relationship.” He had been telling her that he was a multi-millionaire, but then his family reached out to her and told her the truth.

Shortly thereafter, his father caught him talking to Sylvie again on Twitter. So his dad kicked him out of the house, apparently for good this time. And fair enough.

That evening, Grant Amato returned and shot his father, mother and brother dead, execution-style. He then pathetically tried to make it look like a murder-suicide carried out by his brother.

(Spoiler - nobody fell for that.)

After executing his parents and brother, he then went to a public WiFi area, withdrew $600 from his brother's account, and sent it to Sylvie. He used the fingerprint from his brother's corpse to pass the iPhone biometric and access the bank accounts.

So the cops found him and brought him in to interview him, and he did a disgracefully piss poor job of claiming that he had nothing to do with it.

So anyway, the jury gave him life with no possibility of parole for the 3 murders. The death penalty was on the table, but the jury came back with life with no parole instead. Apparently out of pity for what a pathetic loser he is.

And now Grant Amato and his weird alien-shaped skull has 30, 40, maybe 50 years to sit in a concrete cell and think about life choices, and also get used as a toilet brush by any inmate with the physique of an average 16 year old.

So the next time you're a bit down or depressed or miserable about things maybe not going as well as you planned..... hey, buck up, mate! At least you're not Grant Amato. :good

:hat

Ironically I kind of picture you as close to Grant Amato as anyone in this forum
The fact you were taking great delight in taking the piss out of the sad cunt was just a deflection

Looks like Etienne's life went full circle. He was in prison when he turned to boxing and Les Bonano took him on as his trainer/manager here in the N.O. area and got him lots of fights.

He climbed in the rankings and had some big fights in his career, beating Lawrence Clay Bey and Lamon Brewster, but losses to Fres Oquendo, Mike Tyson, Calvin Brock and Nicolay Valuev ended his run.

And yeah, the reference to "Good Times" is a good one. I like the subject matter though and shows another, softer side of the guy besides the thug life he couldn't step away from.

Kind of like another Tony Ayala minus the sick sexual shit he did to land him in prison on multiple occasions.
