The case of Leo Frank has gone down in history as one of the more famous cases of a miscarriage of justice occurring. On April 27th of 1913, 13-year-old Mary Phagan was strangled and her body was found in an Atlanta pencil factory. The owner of the factory, Leo Frank, became the top suspect, in part due to his Jewish heritage leading to an anti-Semitic hate coming through in some people. Frank had recently laid off Phagan from her job at the factory due to a shortage of raw materials. The rumors swirled that Frank had actually done so due to having his romantic advances rebuffed. Two notes, supposedly in Phagan’s hand writing, were found by Phagan’s body that seemed to implicate a factory guard named Newt Lee as being involved with Phagan’s demise. Bloody clothes were later found at Lee’s residence. The detectives eventually decided that the clothes had been planted by Frank. Lee’s time card was also missing punches that indicated Lee was away from his post around the time of the murder.

Janitor Jim Conley was also suspected of aiding in the crime. When in custody he was given a spelling test and he misspelled the same words as the letter writer of the notes had. Conley was arrested along with the guard and Leo Frank. Frank would ultimately be the only one who saw the inside of a courtroom.

Frank was charged with Phagan’s murder and was sentenced to die via the gallows. Frank never wavered on his innocence and appealed the ruling. One day before he was scheduled to die the governor of Georgia granted Frank a sentence of life imprisonment instead. This outraged a number of people and on August 16th a lynch mob formed and forced themselves into the penitentiary where Frank was being held. They snatched Frank from his cell and dragged him to a spot near Phagan’s home. The following morning Frank was murdered by being hung from a tree. Despite promises from law enforcement, none of the lynch mob was ever charged in the crime.

Frank’s innocence was not proven until several decades later when a witness finally spoke up and said he had seen the janitor, Jim Conley, carrying Phagan’s lifeless body into the factory’s basement. Frank was formally cleared in 1986 when the Georgia State Board of Pardons awarded him a posthumous pardon.

High school guidance counselor Mary Depue had a volatile relationship with her husband Dennis. After years of unhappiness, Mary finally filed for divorce. Dennis was enraged and his wife took the blunt of his fury. He attacked her in front of their children and ultimately tossed her down a flight of stairs. He then dragged his obviously injured wife past their children and shoved her in a van, declaring to them he was going to take Mary and seek medical assistance. That was the farthest thing from what Dennis intended to do.

He was next seen flying down a county road in the van, passing an older couple out for a drive. A little while later, that same couple passed an old school house and saw the same van parked in the lot – it’s driver was seen walking in the back yard of the school, carrying what appeared to be a bloody sheet.

A few minutes later the same van once again came roaring behind the couple, only this time the driver tailgated the pair for several miles before they became nervous and turned down a side road. The van stopped and pulled over, and that allowed the couple to bravely turn around and double back towards their pursuer in order to acquire his license plate number. When they drove by him, they could see he was changing his license plate and they also noticed the van’s passenger door was open, and to their horror, they could see it was covered in blood.

The couple now knew something sinister was amiss and they returned back to the school yard to investigate. Once there, the pair quickly found a partially disclosed blanket, soaked in blood. The duo then scurried off to contact the police.

Mary’s body was found behind an abandoned church. She had been killed via a gunshot to the back of the head. The culprit was obvious and Dennis was on the run. Unsolved Mysteries aired the case 11 months later.

Millions of eyes took in the visage of evil incarnate. One set of those eyes belonged to the perpetrator himself, Dennis Depue – now living in Dallas under the assumed name of Hank Queen. He quickly told his new girlfriend a cover story and went back on the run. Others who knew “Hank” had already contacted the police however and law enforcement was able to track him as he veered into Mississippi.

Depue had no intention of going down easy. The pursuing officers shot out one of his tires, and that failed to stop his van. Another tire was shot out, and Dennis kept on attempting the escape. He ultimately rammed into two police vehicles before firing three or four shots at police officers who made haste towards his stalled van.

Another tell tale shot was heard coming from inside the vehicle, this one found its mark – a self-inflicted bullet into Depue’s mouth that exited the back of his head. An unsatisfactory ending for those who desire hard justice and one that hardly mends the emotional wounds already perpetrated onto the Depue children.

The Unsolved Mysteries re-enactment of this case was done so chillingly well that the makers of the horror movie “Jeepers Creepers” took the idea directly from the show and implemented it into their own story.

Mexico is very non-PC. We don't take ourselves or others seriously whatsoever. It's a very relaxed culture and nothing like what's seen here in modern America and especially (from what I'm reading) modern Europe.

I mean we don't even call each other by our names. We all have a nickname that are just ridiculous. Nothing badass like boxers call themselves. Just ridiculous shit like "mocos," "pelos," etc.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faith_Chapel_Church_ritual_abuse_case

The San Diego Church ritual abuse case was a case of a developmentally disabled individual charged with child sexual abuse in 1991 as part of the satanic ritual abuse moral panic. After a 9-month trial the accused was found not guilty by the jury.

Dale Akiki was born with Noonan syndrome, a rare genetic disorder which left him with a concave chest, club feet, drooping eyelids and ears.[1]

Akiki served with his wife as a volunteer baby-sitter with the a church in San Diego County, California. He was arrested and charged with 35 counts of child abuse and kidnapping in 1991, and held without bail for 30 months before trial.[2] The government filed its first case against Akiki on May 10, 1991, in San Diego Superior Court.[3] A second case was prosecuted against him on February 20, 1992.[4] The campaign against him was initiated by Jack and Mary Goodall, the former being the CEO of Jack in the Box, who stated that they found his physical appearance, coupled with his working contact with the children of the church in his capacity as a volunteer, "disturbing."

So he went through all that just because of the way he looked? Any evidence against him apart from the face?
Nope.

The cases against him included no physical evidence, but allegations of satanic ritual abuse including testimony that he killed a giraffe and an elephant in front of the children, drank human blood in satanic rituals, and had abducted the children away from the church despite being unable to drive.[6]

Good additions Bruiser, love the avi too.

On the night of December 5th, 1982 truckers who were traveling along Interstate 10 in Pascagoula, Mississippi began to raise a ruckus on their CB radios after several of them spotted a woman carrying a child along the road side during the midnight hour. Several truckers and others who passed her by stopped and asked to be of assistance but she turned down all their offers.

The next day a semi driver called the authorities after he spotted a body floating in the Dog River beneath the highway. When the police arrived they failed to recover the body that was spotted but they did find the corpse of a toddler floating. An autopsy would later prove that the child was placed in the river alive and died via drowning.

With very little to go on, the cops could only speculate that this was the same child seen by the passerbys the night before. The speculation is that the young girl’s mother jumped from the bridge and both succumbed to the same means of death.

The toddler was buried in a nearby cemetery with the costs covered by a local deputy who was touched by the sad circumstances of the case. 200 people came to the unknown child’s funeral.

LaVena Johnson was a midwest girl who was active in her community prior to joining the armed forces and being deployed to Iraq in 2005. She only weeks shy of her 20th birthday. Unfortunately, Johnson would to die while serving in Iraq – but the circumstances behind her death have many crying cover up.

The official version from the military is that Johnson’s boyfriend had ended things with her via email, which prompted her to print the emails out, burn them, then shoot herself in the mouth with a M-16.

When her family got her body back home, her father noticed some unusual abnormalities such as bruises on his daughter’s face, evidence of a broken nose that had been concealed through plastic surgery, scratches on her neck, a busted lip and cracked teeth. The family began a private investigation and far more disturbing details soon came out. The crime scene photos showed a blood trail suggesting Johnson had been dragged into her tent, teeth marks were evident on LeVena’s torso, the bullet wound in her head was consistent with a much smaller caliber gun than the army had claimed and the bullet trajectory seemed to hint at an execution style shot from the top of the head – not through the mouth, her hands were covered by gloves that had been super glued to her skin, her hands had serious third-degree burns on them, and her vagina had acid burns on it – probably to help conceal a rape.

The army refused to aid the family in their investigation, forcing the Johnson’s to use the Freedom of Information Act to acquire details of the crime. Officially the investigation remains open.

http://culturecrossfire.com/etc/unsolved-mysteries-vol-3/

38-year old National Guard Captain Gordon Hess was on the base in Fort Knox, Kentucky when he went missing on March 3rd, 1998. A search that night failed to find him, but the following day Hess was located at the bottom of a ravine – he was stiff with rigor mortis. The four men who found his body counted at least twenty stab wounds but found no knife in the area. An autopsy was performed the next day and found six stab wounds in his neck, two in his heart, one in the liver, four in the lung and a total of 26 stab wounds in all. Incredibly, Dr. Peter W. Schilke who was in charge of the autopsy declared Hess’ death a suicide. His reasoning was that Hess’ wallet hadn’t been stolen, some wounds were superficial and a lack of defensive wounds that would indicate a struggle. The knife that was used turned up in official crime scene photos despite the first men on the scene not seeing it. To further raise alarms, the Army had two tons of dirt poured on the crime scene only two days after Hess’ death “to contain biohazards from the blood”.

Hess’ family was concerned that his death wasn’t being properly handled and had a second autopsy done. This time, with a new doctor in charge, it was ruled a homicide. With that ruling emboldening them, Hess’ family had an independent investigation look into the crime. The investigators determined that due to the nature of the strikes to his heart and lungs that no more than one blow should have been necessary to bring on death, plus the odds that he would have been able to continue stabbing himself while mortally wounded are slim. They also speculated that since Hess was trained as an EMT and death via suicide was actually his goal, then he had the knowledge to end his life in a far less painstaking manner than what occurred. The most damning evidence was that the knife the Army said was found at the scene was smaller than the wounds indicate and the knife had no blood on it.

After over a year of battling the Army to try and have her husband’s case reopened, Hess’ wife Dorene elected to focus on their children and let things go. The case remains officially closed.

On Father’s Day in 1969 seven-year-old Dennis Martin was camping in the Smokey Mountains with his grandfather, father and several other young boys. The kids decided to play a prank on the adults and snuck off into the woods in order to jump out and surprise their elders. Three of the boys went one way, while Dennis went the other. When the trio jumped out, the adults played along and acted scared. Then Dennis’ father asked where he was. It had only been three to five minutes since the children had left his sight. The family quickly scoured the area in search of Dennis but when they came up empty handed the park rangers were notified.

Over the next days and weeks a massive search force went into action, peaking at around 1400 searchers from the National Guard, Green Berets, local firefighters, rescue squads and such. The search was immediately hampered by inches and inches of rain pouring down on the area. Nonetheless blood hounds and helicopters aided in the 13,000 plus man hours that went into the search as the weeks went by. Several psychics offered their assistance and an Ouija board was even used as the searchers got desperate for a resolution.

A trail of footprints lasting around 300 yards were found. They appeared to show a small foot walking barefoot next to a shoe print that matched the brand that Dennis was wearing. The search officials decided that this wasn’t a valid clue since other searchers had gone over that area already and it could have been from them (never mind the fact that no children were part of the search party). The area the prints were found in were also considered to be too far away from where Martin disappeared to be his.

A visitor who was two miles away from where Dennis disappeared from reported that he heard a “sickening” scream from a child at about the same time that he saw a haggard looking man near the edge of the woods. When the man was spotted, he quickly dashed back into the undergrowth of the forest. The investigators chose to ignore this lead as they felt that it was too far from the place where Martin vanished from to be connected to him. Dennis’ family was supposedly not told about this tip until days after the event, at which point Dennis’ father walked from the site of the disappearance to where the man was seen and he felt it was very much plausible to have hiked from one point to the other in the time necessitated by the timeline.

As the weeks went by, the search started to dwindle in volunteer numbers and the focus started to become more about recovering a body more than finding a child. They watched for buzzards circling and other such telltale signs of death in the wilderness. Ultimately the search was called off that September.

In 1973 a man was in the woods illegally searching for ginseng when he found a skull and some human bones about five miles from where Martin disappeared from. Fearing being arrested or fined for trespassing, he didn’t tell authorities about what he saw until 1985. At that point the rangers sent a crew to the area to try and find the bones, but too much time had passed (if the story is even valid) and nothing was left to be found.

Dennis’ family ultimately felt that he was kidnapped since no body, blood or clothing was ever found to indicate that he died there. It should be noted that this case is often used as an example of a possible Bigfoot related abduction, and at least one author claims that the boy’s father told them that the FBI on scene were in charge of the case and made it a point to not follow up on the sighting of the man in the woods because the “man” was actually a large hairy bipedal creature who may have been carrying the boy.

Martin’s father died in October of 2014. Dennis’ case remains unsolved.
