This is seemingly that time of the year: SpaceX lost a F9 booster. There's also a conspiracy that the seagulls did it! Check feed before landing attempt, motherfuckers occupied the pad!

You don't walk into the lion's den kicking and streaming, you tread lightly.
Musk proven to be a bit of a cunt, so I wouldn't be surprised if he just wants to kiss Putins ass for some additional endorsement of cryptocurrency or for building cheap rocket parts in Russia....whatever benefits him

Corrected it, fucker truly wants to make human consciousness multi-planetary and independent of Earth politics, financials and military. Given Russia's incredible history in space you want then on your side (like everyone else) irregardless of the despot karate midget. SpaceX can also give internet access to millions of Russian citizens hundreds of miles out of any viable connection, it benefits Elon but so freakin does local education and economy. And no, I don't think the officially richest person on the planet is afraid of asking tough questions from the unofficial, most powerful and a little scary one, but you really wanna approach a wild horse with smiles and compliments before riding it, don't ya?

Any of this communication with the despot only legitimizes his grip on power... Especially now as they put opposition in jail for "poisoning themselves", this will be a welcome distraction.. Although I can see providing internet to far away regions of Russia being only beneficial, totally with you on that....other than that these invites only strengthens Putins regime and put 145 million regular russians further away from freedom

You seriously think Putin is dependent on a South African memelord with no business in Russia, to hold onto power in Russia?

No of course not, but Putin is up for Euro sanctions again...and it's the worst time to give his regime any legitimacy. And Yes, Musk being the name that he is helps Putins machine...they will make propaganda out of this right away.

First, last time I checked Putin was elected legitimately. 2nd I'm well aware of the very bloody shenanigan plus changes of law to stay in power, but his regime is, by definition, legitimate. 2nd: how do you know if Elon's gonna suck hairy karate dick? Did Musk called you to run over the topics and questions with you?

Did Musk call you and ran over the topics and questions? 4th: how do you expect to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy and try to make human consciousness multi-planetary if you ignore the largest country on the planet, with critical amount of emissions and great space history? 5th: are you really that naive that powers simply ignoring Hitler or Stalin would've made WWII go away? If you wanna change the world and have the means, it's extremely wise to initiate a sit down with the powers on your own terms rather than wait until they knock on your door with a gun in hand. Openly discussing sustainability, space and possible politics on Elon's turf is the best way to address Putin.

No man, you can't get elected legitimately having all of media under state control and suppressing any sort of opposition, no matter how small. Putin hasn't been legitimate for over a decade now. All of TV channels defend Putin on prime time day in and day out...and they consistently jail, beat up, and harass opposition. Its like saying african dictators are legitimate when if you don't vote for them they shoot you, so they have 90% ratings.

Bro, we are all supportive of sustainable energy, but it's not gonna happen overnight. Even more, Putins regime resisted any innovation and insists on using oil and gas because it's the industry they control. Musk is a twat plain and simple for giving this midget some spotlight.

If no one dares to speak freely to Putin, nothing's ever gonna change mate, and a country of that size and environmental impact that big, world can't wait till Lil'Man corks nor should we ignore large chunks of the planet on planetary issues, that's silly mate... And as it happens, Elon's someone who dares to speek freely, has enough reach and juice, and perhaps even the ability to set the stage on an independent channel not under Vlad's media control that could bring the man out of his comfort zone in an interview.

Even if all political stuff is skipped and it's a Elon-Vlad circle jerk, if Elon manages to influence P just a little to accelerate Russia's transition to sustainable transportation and energy (perhaps sell a Tesla or two in the process, lets be honest about that), and share the cosmic perspective where colony on Mars is not a vanity thing for nationalism but essential for humanity in case shit hits the fan down here, then the net positive of a single interview is tremendous. Dictators don't need outside parties to legitimize them since they already have absolute power, outside parties however can still influence them to do better, and I wouldn't call Elon daring and setting up the stage on his turf twatty. I'd call that bold and smart, but we'll see.

NASA's most important Mars rover yet is attempted a 7-minute, mission critical landing tomorrow. This is the most risky part, hoping for a clean outcome.
