Think how pinpoint accurate that needs to be to land so close to that tower in order to catch the massive booster.Sometimes shit is exciting, other times shit is beautiful
Edit: did I totally forget to say Elon's planning to skip Super Heavy's legs and catch the booster by the launch tower mid-air?And no, I'm not kidding.
If it was any other company, I would think this was unnecessary complexity being added for no reason but it's SpaceX and doing the seemingly unthinkable seems par for the course from them.
Yeah plus it don't help that SpaceX plans to land vertically and a tall vertical tower is kinda in the way... interesting development. And looks like Elon is rushing through the processes - SN9 just got TFR for potential flight - this weekend!

It's visually very similar, the house they use for filming is in Lawndale. But that's the West side of Chicago. Shameless is supposed to be in Canaryville on the South side.

While static fire was complete and they successfully detanked, it's not confirmed if it was successful, and they might do a longer duration today as Boca Chica residents got the overpressure even waring: when the 10 minute siren is heard, they must evacuate the premises and get away from windows. So far of course no catastrophic failure did any damage in the village cause it's 2,5 kms from launch site but chances are there of an unwanted event. Of course civilian population is down to some 10-ish as SpaceX bought most ppl. out (at extremely reasonable prices they'd say).
If there's a SF today and if it's a complete success, there's a good chance of SN9 flying tomorrow, and very good chance it flies sometime the next 3 days. I guess some check-ups and flap test is still necessary, but that's not a biggie. However, stand and Raptor have to be 100%. And in completely boring news: after a devilish Evil Elon market cap of $666B, capitalization is now up to the heavenly $777B (oh wait, my bad, not 777 yet)!

Yeah those ppl. who thought TSLA was too high at $100B market cap... don't know shit about being high.
Far as I know he has hundreds of millions of dollars. In debt. He usually borrows big bucks against the stock to buy it on the cheap per his Tesla compensation packages, so he might literally be the richest and most hopelessly broke person in the Solar System. Only Elon could pull this shit off.

Luckily Tesla has access to all sensory data of all of its cars and shares such data with independent agencies in disputes, and the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration responsible for safety investigations and huge recalls in the past has concluded that any case involved in "Tesla sudden acceleration" was drivers fault.
“There is no evidence of any fault in the accelerator pedal assemblies, motor control systems or brake systems that has contributed to any the cited incidents,” NHTSA said. In fact, it states that in every instance where event data was available, it found that “pedal misapplication” was the cause of what went on to happen. Just this other day some Chinese Tesla owner drove straight through a shopping mall wall probably forgetting to put the car in reverse and floored it. With more power comes more responsibility etc., any car that beats a top-end Bugatti or Lamborghini in drag race should be handled with care no matter how ordinary it looks.
I know many accidents of ppl. buying a fast e-bike and hitting 100% throttle only to do a backflip and head/spine damage - learn to drive / handle first, stupid! As far as Tesla goes, it actually has the highest safety rating of Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and least incidents per million mile driven of any major car manufacturer cause there are automatic accident avoiding measures built in and so far most Tesla drivers seem conscious about their abilities. But not all, hence trying to blame lack of skill and endangering self and others on the car company.

After a few days of Texas storm (including a snow storm that hit Giga Austin), SpaceX at Boca Chica is back at testing. They aborted yesterday but performed a short static fire about an hour ago and prepping a repeat in 10ish minute to perhaps later.

And there you go, that's the first ever back-to-back SF, although SN8 did relit Raptors during flight so that was clearly a bigger achievement. Detanking now oddly with HUGE venting, hope all all right.
