I've got pretty much every one of his fights that I could get hold of. He was fucking brilliant.

He morphed boxing talent, fun, circus, entertainment all into one. He wasn't perfect (which boxer was?) but fuck did he give you value for money.

Amazing, amazing talent. I only wish I was old enough and around the fight game when he was in his prime. I'd have been all over it.
He was pure entertainment mixed with a champion's tenacity...he had a very respectable title run before Tony Lopez closed the show on him. I couldn't believe the 15 round decision over Calvin Grove...all those late kds...I screamed myself hoarse before the tv.

Grove fight was legendary. That fight was soooooo good. He was miles behind, but knocking some cunt down three times in the last round surely must score you some Brownie points, and points when you're down.

Tracy Spann fights were pretty good. Both Troy Dorsey fights were class. He wasn't made to look a cunt against Pernell Whitaker, either - kid held his ground. I enjoyed watching him fight (the very credible) Stevie Cruz. The fights El Maromero had against Freddie Pendleton, Rafael Ruelas and Louie Espinoza were/are all worth a look.

Kid is a human highlight reel, a lot like another one of my favourite boxers, Gatti. Love that shit.
