Extend your life to 500 years

Scientists are working on identifying aging pathways / networks which could in theory allow aging to slow by 5 times.

So imagine sometime in the future they will have drugs that would extend your life to 500 years.

This stuff is mental to think about. How would living to 500 change how people interract with each other, what they choose to do with their time etc. I bet alot more would be more careful with their health knowing that you have that much life to live.

Also, would something like this just be available to only the rich people? They'd probably make the drug so expensive that only certain people can afford it...while the rest of us can fuck off and die. Or even better, pay a monthly fee for 100 years or be denied the drugs. What movie I am thinking of, is this Gataca?

Of course it will only be avaliable to the rich and powerful, you do realize the way capitalism is set up all we are is disposable worker drones, right?

They don't need us hanging around longer than we already do.

C. elegans are pretty robustly studied in aging. I interviewed at a medical facility with a PI doing research in this area, specifically on aging. She was real cool.
There is actually a PI next door to the lab I joined that is doing C. elegans studies. I don't think he's doing aging, though.

I'm curious of the mechanism, but I already have my scientific research papers laid out for me that I'm slacking on already. I'd rather not read through one that isn't important to me at the moment.

Kinda sad that she outlived her daughter and grandson, and outlived her spouse by 55 years. Quality of life, and that includes the quality of life of those around you, really is much more important than longevity.
Yeah I certainly don't want to be around that long. My great great grandma lived until almost her 101st birthday. She didn't have a clue what was going on for the last 10 years apparently (I was very small and don't really remember).

If it was a healthy 500 years, no dementia and I could walk, wipe my own arse and my family and friends could live that long. Then yeah, damn fucking right I would.
Presumably if they slow down aging then that means no dementia or muscle deterioration, or wrinkly skin. Let's say you are 30 and start taking these drugs, so you'll stay looking 30 for 300 years, then you start declining to an old person for another 50 until you're dead.

Last thing this planet needs is us cunts living even longer with the constantly growing population
Everyone wants to live a little longer, and if there is something like this available, even at astronomical prices of $15million for the treatment, you would still do it.

Man, that would be awesome. Imagine the things we'd see.

Get it on interest free credit payable over 250 years.

£5k per month or £350 per month if you get Diane Abbott to calculate the repayments.

Bit of a leap/stretch to apply this humans just because we share many genes with that nematode?

Having said that, there's is no doubt in my mind it'll be possible at some point.
Compare the world from 1920 to 2020, then think about what it's going to look like in 2120.
