RBR!!! Floyd Mayweather Jr (50-0) vs Logan Paul (0-1) - 6 June 2021

  • CHB will be closing down as of 31st July 2021. It's been a brilliant experience to run the website for the past 9 years, however it's time for me to move onto different projects. Thanks to every single person involved, from staff, former staff, posters old and current. All support means more than anyone knows. Thanks for your understanding.

Just watched Luis Arias come away with a split decision victory over the former unified light-middleweight champion. This one was at 160 but irrespective of where it was this is a terrible loss on Jarrett Hurd's record, he said afterwards that he thought he won and whilst it was close, that's the problem. Going life and death with Arias on a Mayweather undercard isn't what his career needed at all, I don't know where he goes from here but a new trainer might be a good start.

But I should give credit to Arias and not just slate Hurd, he did what he always does but at last it was enough to get him a victory, I didn't do a RBR myself but it looked like a draw or Arias, Hurd winning wasn't something I saw, Arias was outfighting him and at times he looked like a bully in there even though Hurd had all the physical advantages. Congrats to Arias always comes to fight I'm happy for him.

Imagine being in the UK, buying the PPV and then staying up till the early hours of a Monday morning to watch it and then finding out the broadcaster uploaded the whole fight for free just a few hours later! I would be DEMANDING my money back

McGregor must be seething. He was stopped by Mayweather, whereas a Youtuber went the distance with Floyd.
Why?

Logan is twice Conor's size (and don't act like that's not important), and Floyd was clearly WAY more declined vs Paul. The Conor fight was almost half a decade ago, and there's a big, big difference between a 40 year old fighter, and a fighter well into his mid-40s.

Plus, Conor was stopped in round ten of twelve. Paul went the full eight rounds. Conor was doing OK after eight. :good

People vastly underestimate how important levels are in sports. Not having the power to KO elite level welterweights shouldn’t be taken to assume he doesn’t have the power to hurt a novice amateur.

There’s no possible outcome other than the Youtuber getting stopped. I realise it’s only an exhibition, but him seeing the final bell would look bad on Mayweather, thus he won’t.
Mayweather landed on him, and Paul went nowhere. The guy has a chin and was tough, he didn't fold. Mayweather never came close to dropping him or even forcing a standing eight, let alone King him. Give Paul that credit. He did much, MUCH better than you thought he would.

Fucking embarrassing. What a total shitshow.
It's prize fighting.

Floyd will cash a nine-figure check for a sparring session with a social media star. He'd be a fool to have passed up this fight.

I seriously would not walk across the street to watch this fiasco live for free.

I can't believe this is even going to be a PPV event and it just goes to show how fucking gullible some so-called fans can be because if you're a real fan of boxing, this crap should get under your skin and piss you off for making a mockery out of the sport.
It's not marketed to real fans of boxing. It's a freakshow fight, no different to Ali vs Inoki. It wasn't even promoted as a serious competitive contest - Mayweather's biggest promo line was literally "this is just legalised bank robbery."

I have no problem with it. Everybody made a bunch of cash, nobody got hurt, other serious pro fighters got a bit of reflected shine and an opportunity to fight on a highly visible card, and the marketing and promotion was honest. Honestly I don't see the problem. We all hate seeing retired boxers with nothing, I have no problem with a retired boxer making an easy (huge) payday for a sparring session against a novice. It's not like Paul is fighting Deontay Wilder or Francis Ngannou or even Canelo, is it. :good

I have YouTube Remorse..

Imagine looking for the highlights and you see an awful fight from start to finish.

Gone are the days that a Mayweather fight being a spectacle.

Glad I didn’t go watch this at a fight party in Vegas. That’s gotta be disappointing.

I got some money to watch Pacquiao Spence. I will probably pass on Fury/Wilder.

Floyd was notorious for dull fights in his hey day, absolutely none of this is surprising, Mayweather was never a KO artist, infact in the last decade of his career he only ever stopped Ortiz who gave him a free punch (McGregor doesn’t count).
So what’s surprising? That a guy 40lbs heavier than Mayweather lasted the distance or that he didn’t dominate him at 44 years old.

Not that it matters, but no fucking way is he making anywhere near 100million for that shit show, the way these numbers are flying around is insane. I heard Mayweather say he got paid 30million just for the patches on his trunks. Fuck right off Floyd, a fucking prime time best slot in history super bowl ad is only 5 million, yet you’re saying a patch on your shorts is worth more?

Let’s see what the PPV numbers are, then we can work out exactly how close to a “9 figure pay cheque” he really is.

He owns the promotion, which makes it completely different. Every $10 beer that was drunk in that arena, Floyd got a piece of it.

You’re looking at 2 million PPV buys at $50 a pop to even gross 100 million, do you think this will do that well? Come on...
