riiiiight......

so NOW blue lives matter....
NOW their institutions suddenly aren't a symbol of white supremecy and systemic racism that DONT need to be torn down
NOW there DOESNT need to be a revolution
NOW they need to crack down on "incendiary" rhetoric...
suddenly protests SHOULD be peaceful...
NOW its not just "property damage"

now......
now...........when, oh wow look......theres political mileage in it.......
how fucking surprising...... :rolleyes

fair dinkum you would need a chainsaw to cut through this hypocrisy...
Why were the people at BLM protests there? What was their cause, their message?

Now - why were the people at the MAGA riot there? What was their cause, their message?

Well, one side's message was "Stop murdering us."

The other side's message was "Fuck democracy, and also Qanon."

So that's actually really important.

You are surprised that millions and millions and millions of people took to the streets for months to protest police violence, and sometimes at night there were opportunistic criminals who took advantage of the crowd, and things got out of hand and there was looting and a lot of businesses were burned?

That's no different at all to thousands of people coming to the capital from all across the nation because they don't accept that they live in a democracy, and so they want to prevent the peaceful transfer of power from occurring?

And then they storm the fucking Capitol building, which has never happened since the British did it more than 200 years ago? The Confederate flag never flew in the Capitol through the entire Civil War, but it did last week. But both sides y'all? :rolleyes

But to finish up.

1) What are you going to say when the right wing crazies ramp the violence up over the coming weeks, months and years?

2) We don't know 10% of what happened in that building yet. This shit was real close to being a situation where Congressmen and women were taken as hostages and possibly executed. A lot is going to come out in the wash. This was a truly disgraceful episode all round.

haggis. this is fucking rubbish. you KNOW its fucking rubbish. please stop.
to my genuine sadness ive watched tds devolve eminently reasonable posters like goat into obfuscating, meme spamming, platitude spewing clones of choad and bachafuckwit and though you and i have often vehemently disagreed ive always respected your opinion (or tried to). ive never once flamed you and even stood up for you at times not because were buddies but simply because what was being said toward you was unjust. were at the pont now where i consider you the last somewhat reasonable leftist on here. but "my violence is better than your violence" is simply not sustainable as an argument.

please dont take this tack. im begging you

You addressed absolutely nothing of what was said.

Let's try just one very short question.

Do you believe that last week's riot was a one-off incident, or do you expect to see more of this type of violence?

it depends what you mean?

political violence generally? the Portland riots ARE still happening so yes i suppose
if you mean violence from the maga people Its hard to tell. alot depends on the many various plates still currently spinning and how they land.
my intuition says probably yes

I want to thank all of the Trump fans and the right wingers on here for the melt downs, the clowning of yourselves, the whining and the crying. There's been few times that I can remember where I've had this much constant entertainment and laughs over the span of a few weeks. The creation of this thread just adds to it.

Hey, here's a thought experiment about freedom of speech.

A private company (twitter) headed by a private citizen (Dorsey) has decided to boot the POTUS off of its privately-held platform. And the President HATES this decision.

What happens in Russia, or China, when a private citizen or privately-held entity decides to do something that enrages Putin or Xi to a comparable extent?

I see freedom of speech is too controversial for the main page, @Jack, and was moved to the sub forum, too. I wonder how that happened?
