I didn't get a lot of things about the episode... Why were they upset that he bent the knee to get allies? Why were they upset the lannisters are coming to help (or so they think)? Why did that other house back off after they heard danys coming to help?

Do they not realise at this point politics is out of the question and its time to joint forces to fight a common enemy? Surely you'd rather fight by your worst enemy than a bunch of dead monsters by yourselves?

I think perspective is lost on a lot of them because they have never actually seen the enemy. They also have very good reason to despise the Lannisters.

But yeah, they need to quash this petty shit now.

It looks like that if you buy into the azor ahai prophecy thing.

Potential spoiler ahead:

I think Azor Ahai is Jamie Lannister. He's going to plunge a sword into Cersei, but not in the usual way that got them three children, into her heart. That would then make Lightbringer.

That shit will get squashed quickly once they see the army of the dead

By bending the knee he forfeited the kingship of the North. You can have two Kings/Queen...so they're upset they've lost a king and gained an outsider for a Queen.

As for the Lannisters....they killed Ned Stark, behind the Red Wedding, have basically been at war with them for years...they don't trust them so why would they be happy about them coming into their home?

The other house backed off because they didn't want to give their men to a outsider Queen (i think).

That's a theory I just read. The Three Eyed Raven was waiting for his old friend Azor Ahai at the end of the episode, as opposed to Bran (who truly isn't even Bran anymore) waiting for Jaime.

Dunno about all that, though. Not sure they're even from the same time period.

Ok that was a good opening episode. They crammed in as much as possible setting up some epic storylines for the final 5.

Solid.

Dope first episode. Things are setting up nicely.

Hope Daenerys gets killed. Her storylines and repetitive acting have been the downside of the whole thing for me.

Fuck that bitch.

I felt the same way up until last season. I thought she redeemed herself last season. It was never her fault of course, the writers just turned her into an unlikable, repetitive fuckwit...

Wasn’t really that keen on the first episode. May be a bit unfair given how difficult it’s going to be to pace things well over the next 5 episodes.

Bit of a nothing episode where not much happened. Just a few reunions between characters.

I wouldn't mind if it was a 10 episode season, but there's only very few episodes left to close the story.

Sansa is hands down the most annoying character in the show.

How do you not understand that you need danny right now! I would have thought her character would have grown after all shes been through. But shes still the same short sighted brat. The writing has really taken a nosedive since they ran out of source material from the books

Oh shut up, the last two books sucked, anyway.

I do wish they spent more time on the interactions between characters meeting up and less on the dragon date and unsullied arriving at winterfell.

Cannot wait to see how it all ends but after nearly two years that was a bit anticlimactic.
