Even if a boxer has a granite chin, it doesn't mean they're impervious from getting stopped.

For example, Dick Tiger was known for his durability and strength. His only stoppage loss in 76 fights beforehand was a retirement due to injury. But Bob Foster had a reputation for wrecking his opponents.

Something had to give:

Post some other examples!

Having a great chin has for some relied heavily on having a great defence and when an opponent finally lands one clean, perhaps one they didn't even see coming, myths can be obliterated.

Jeff Fenech being stopped in his rematch with Azuma Nelson.

It was Fenech's 28th fight and he was undefeated. He had already withstood everything Nelson could throw at him for 12 rounds in Vegas and had won a swag of belts along the way.

Yes, Fenech had been down briefly twice earlier in his career. But Nelson put a crack in Fenech, and Fenech, in a fairly recent interview, said until then he never felt pain when he got hit. But from then on in his career he said that he did.
