Has anyone on here written a blog? Before anyone says anything, I do actually have some interesting things to talk about.

As many of you know I have some ongoing battles with Anxiety, addiction and being a bit overweight, some of which I have come closer to beating or at least made some progress on. Plus other stresses. I think, personally, I may have given some good advice in the mental health thread and I think that writing a blog could potentially help me get over the last as a kind of diary and some accountability to anyone who bothers to read it. Maybe it will help some other people as men being affected by these issues is still a bit of a taboo subject?

If you think it will help you then do it. My mrs' friend runs a site for people with chronic illnesses, as she has an incurable condition that will eventually make her blind. She seems to have found a lot of good from setting this up and it got her published articles in Cosmopolitan and invited to speak at events.

Even if it is purely cathartic for you and doesn't lead to much, it is still worth it. If you're interested, her site is https://www.beyondmybattle.org/

Might give you some ideas.

If I write this I am going to write it in pretty plain speaking terms, including swearing and everything. Because that's just the kind of guy I am.

Round and about
Blogs are real stale buns. I don't even think any platforms still exist do they.

I think blogger used to offer a free service. Might be worth a try..

You can easily run your own blog using wordpress as a platform - get your own domain etc. It's relatively inexpensive tbh especially for a small, single site. Probably get it for like £15 hosting for the year (maybe less), and domains are a few quid to buy, then about £10-20 depending on what type of domain you get to renew each year. You'll spend more on beer a week (or whatever other weekly vice you have).

I know a lot of people like to do video blogs as well, which you could look at doing, either instead or to supplement a written blog.

If you're techno-phobic or lazy, there are more managed blog services that can hold your hand for the entire thing - depends on preferences really.

If you need, happy to help with the technical side, hit me up if so.

Thanks Jay, I'll have a look into it and see how I get on.

I might review some stuff that has helped me along the way, see if i can make a bit of the domain money back through a couple of ads  doubt it though. I'm not the best writer.

I'm not sure I'll be doing video blogs as I'll be talking about drugs a fair but

blogger.com

Totally free and can be set up in literally two minutes.

Owned by Google so nice and stable.
Thanks Ant, I'll check it all out tonight and when I've got my Bio and a few bits posted up I'll post a link on here so everyone can rip the shit out of it

It'll be good for me to just endlessly waffle on about myself like the self obsessed idiot I am.

My ex-girlfriend used to have one, I knew nothing about it until a mutual friend blabbed about it so I thought I'd give it a read but I didn't believe it was her at first as it was all so professional looking with big words that I didn't understand and I couldn't imagine her talking like that, then I came to the part where it describes her boyfriend(me) as "a fat selfish idiot who wastes our money on crashing motorcycles every other weekend" and I knew then that was definitely her.

She mainly used it to vent her anger on politics and talk about fashion and the usual shit about how hard it is being a woman.

It sounds like it may function as a good pressure relief valve mate. Have you considered using a platform like Minds to write your blogs and pieces, I was thinking about setting up an account there to rant bullshit every now and again when I have something I want to get off my chest.

https://www.minds.com/

I haven't got round to trying it out yet so I'm not sure how functional it is for blogging.

Other than that, I'm not sure what the best blogging platforms are.

I'll check that out man. I'm going to cover my battle with Benzos and green from when started up until now and hopefully help people to cut back as I have, whilst avoiding the pitfalls I have ran into. I'll also cover how I finally managed to stop smoking which was something I avoided for about 10 years because of the bad anxiety quitting gave me. Plus I'll, be covering my continued efforts with the above and hopefully my weightless journey and further education whilst working full time.

I'm hoping that it will give me some kind of accountability, as there's only so far you can do this on a forum without pissing people off. Plus Ive read up on so much shit and filtered out a lot of the bollocks it will stop people like myself wasting so much time reading up on bullshit like I have.

Plus given the amount of supplements I've tried, I'll probably look into how if I can make a couple of quid from linking people to good ones and stick a few add banners on there. Although I don't even know if that's a thing.

I think it’s given a bad name by the 90% of bloggers who have fuck all interesting to say.

If you’ve got something that people want to read, do it. From what I can gather, a lot of the time it’s the writer who finds the most use from having all their thoughts in one box.

Minds.com looks to be pretty flexible for jumping in and out of and you can add different types of media like video, it's a sort of cross between Facebook, Twitter and a blogging platform and I'm sure it has an inbuilt way to monetise your page if you gain followers. I really need to pay more attention to it as it's intent is to be an alt-media platform to the big social media platforms with a commitment to not censoring people.

Restore the worlds faith in blogs.

Just what i get up to every day. it would be fuckin brilliant. Just naw sure I can be arsed with the inevitable fame and avalanche of modelling offers.
