Works for me, ticks all the boxes as I see them. Froch wants fights that the US networks are excited by, and that US fighters will notice. Cleverly doesn't fit that.
Exactly Simon, he was on the list suggested by HBO along with Ward, Kessler and Golovkin, other than Kessler again, which I have no interest in, those fights are all better than Cleverly.

Ok I'll give you another one, Chavez Jnr.
Fine we have one bigger fight for Froch right now then Cleverly.
ONE! Dont bring Hopkins,Pascal ect up because these guy are not available right now.

I think its a joke how the greatest fighter behind Lennox Lewis is scared to move up and fight at LHW.

All we know is that Froch and Hearn got a great offer for a big fight against Cleverly. The fight dindt happen because they dont want to move up and fight at LHW.

Yes Cleverly dindt fight top opposition lately. But Froch vs Cleverly is a big fight. Wich dindt happen because the self proclaimed greatest fighter behind Lennox Lewis is scared to move up and fight a 26 year old champion at LHW.

And yes I like/support Cleverly. And I think the winner of Cleverly vs Kovalev is the number one LHW.

Again: Do you think Ward or Golovkin would happen right now?
I dont knoch about Golovkin but Froch/Hearn certainly dont want the fight now.

I think Golovkin will be hard pressed for anybody to fight him, I'm sure Froch would but Hearn will put a stop to it.

Froch is not ducking Cleverly though, he has no reason too as he would beat the shit out of him, Its all the political bullshit from rival promoters and the fact Cleverly is a bit of a no mark on the world scene.

Ftr I like Cleverly too, I just think he needs to focus on establishing himself in his division, and that it would be a bizarre choice of fight for Froch. He doesn't need Cleverly's belt to entice big names into fights as he's already bigger than Cleverly's belt, and the Cleverly fight brings him no profile enhancement in the US, indeed it would be an oddly muted fight to take, a virtual non-event as far as the US networks are concerned. Cleverly is currently busy with Kovalev, hopefully he wins that and it puts him in a position to land a big name at LHW.

Froch isn't scared of Cleverly, it just makes little sense as a fight for him.

Or are you just trolling us?

What I said. hearn is talking crap. There is nothing behind this. Who the heck knows where Golovkin is in one year.

if hearn was serious about this fight they would try and get it latter this yr - but I fear they have already picked froch's next opponent

Cleverly is much better than you think.
No he isn't. I've been watching him for years (there isn't a great deal to do in Wales) and aside from a few reasonably impressive showings such as Marat he's done nothing but stagnate and I find it inexplicable that Frank has picked Kovalev for his big finally-stepping-up homecoming.

Cleverly gets a lot of heat. Mainly because he is good, Welsh, undefeated, cocky and fake tanned. Oh! And he can back it all up!

Cleverly is a heck of a lot better than his haters make out on internet forums. They might have a point regarding the level of his opposition so far. But at 26, I'd argue his record stands up to any British fighter to this point. Look at flavor of the month Froch now for instance, look back at when he was 26! Nobody knew who the fuck he was and he wasn't fighting the best either! This is an absolute fact. Neither was Joe Calzaghe or David Haye, Tyson Fury right now or anybody else for that matter. Dont be so naive to look at it now, look at when other fighters were at this age. In fact the only fighter you can say has done any better is probably Amir Khan. Nathan Cleverly is a world champion and people cant stand it!

Deal with it! There have been many worse champions than Nathan Cleverly down the years. (.......incoming reply will be: "Name them")

Dont Forget beating Bellew in his home town. Cleverly is a very talented fighter and I bet many guys on here will be shocked. Kovalev is a huge Puncher and he has a very good Chance against Cleverly but I am sure Cleverly will Show a great fight. Don get me wrong. I dont say Cleverly is an elite fighter right now but he is much better than People think.
