Just bought it this morning. Pretty much have a semi just from reading it. Abercrombie is immense. After reading last years release, I had to read through all 6 previous books.

Looking forward to Sandersons as well.

I didn't make it through Joe's last book. I need to though. It felt like he was trying to navigate himself out his how he wrote for that teen series (Which was pretty good) that he did. I didn't make it that far though. I should probably go back and listen to it.

Do you need to read the 2nd and 3rd or can you just pretend the story finished at the end of the first? Similar to what I do with the Terminator franchise after T2, none of the rest exist for me.
Aye, it definitely stands alone.

It's just so good it leaves you wanting more...only to be disappointed.

I'm a pretty harsh critic though, tbf. Most reviews have them as decent enough.

Has anyone read any Miles Cameron?

I've just started the Red Knight, and I'm really enjoying it.

It's good fun. Gritty and violent with some interesting characters and lots of action.

Set in a kind of medieval Britain, (not normally my favourite setting), it seems to be based on a lot of solid knowledge about the weapons, warfare, and culture of the period, but with added dragons, monsters, and other fey creatures.

It's a biggish book, (800 pages), and I've only just started but I would already recommend it.

Sounds good that. Judged it as a good book by its cover, tbh. Update on this one. Really prefer the longer books when I'm listening to them cos they last the month between credits.

It's one I've fancied for years just based on the cover and blurb. Really enjoying it so far. Not a game changer, but well written and good fun. Seems a solid 4/5.
