Did someone say Dresden Files? It is great! I am currently on my 3rd time through the audiobooks. There are currently 16 novels and a tonne of short stories that build up the world and characters, definitely something you can get lost in.

We're dealing with high fantasy here, Jay. Not against Dresden Files, but it'll take me all year to get through these 9 books
TBF Dresden while taking place on earth, also takes place in the spirit world, and it's a different earth to what we know... Kinda high fantasy (shit term)...

Yeah man!

I think it's book 3 where it starts to come together, and book 4 where the awesomeness is clear. The first books aren't bad, but he just grows and grows as a writer after that.

The audiobooks are read by James Marsters (Spike from Buffy). It's so fucking good it's impossible to describe.

If anyone wants the series, I'm happy to help - PM me.

Genuinely, stick with it and you'll be hooked and it'll be your favourite series in no time.

@aliwasthegreatest did you read the short Christmas story JB posted? There were some Peace Talk spoilers (it's set after PT).

@Goody - our time has come! Dresden Files time!
I want the series, mate. PM me hun x

will sort tonight when home. I'll give you all the books I have, and the audiobooks. I'd recommend the audiobooks tbh, Marsters is pure sex.

Have you listened to the audiobooks? So good, JM is Harry! And Bob.

I genuinely want Marsters to narrate my entire life for me!

It looks like Peace Talks gets released this year. And apparently they're doing a show (a new one) - Jim Butcher tweeted about it earlier this year.
Yes!!! Repeatedly listened to them. I dont want them to do alive action show. As you said, Marsters is Dresden. Do it animated like castlevania or something with him doing Dresden's voice and all the magic and insanity included.

Agreed 100% on everything. Haven't read it yet. Need to, but need to be in the right mood. Did listen to Briefcases recently. The one they picked for Molly was amazing, and I would gladly listen to whole Molly novels.

I'm torn. I hate anime/animated stuff. I feel like it'd cheapen the show and it definitely wouldn't become mainstream. If done right the show could be incredible.

BUT, the budget needed to do it right would be huge. Unless Netflix/Amazon/HBO etc. with huge budgets picked it up, it'll struggle. I genuinely don't know, I think I'm going to end up disappointed regardless.

Have you watched Castlevania on Netflix? I think that show was the first time I had the idea for Dresden to be animated. Obviously not the same tone or anything, but that general quality. I don't think they can cast that show correctly for live action. They gonna have Hodor lose weight and play Dresden?

Making Harry so tall has made it so hard to cast him.

I haven't, I'll give it a shot. Maybe it'll convince me

Yea, but I think that it is completely necessary. It is part of what allows him to talk the amount of shit he does, and feign being unintimidated against the biggest of the baddest motherfuckers out there. Just being able to look down at almost anyone while he's talking shit sells a ton of those scenes to me. And the hilarious foot and a half height difference between him and Murphy makes their shit talking a bit better. I don't see myself enjoying a Dresden Files show nearly as much with some dude that's like...slightly above average height or something. It was so weird the first time they tried it.
