That will hit Morocco's tourism hard I would imagine. Morocco has been trying hard to be seen as the safest country in Africa for a long time. It usually is, but unfortunately these incidents turn people off visiting a country, especially a Muslim one.

Was in the Atlas Mountains with my Mrs this summer. Nice place.

Probably a bit reckless in hindsight.
Sometimes we in the west like to think we can and should go discover a certain countries like this by doing these activities, but you realise just how dangerous it can be after the event and you are safe. Like those two girls who went exploring in some country in Central America, went to a forest and disappeared.

Doubt you'd actually want to watch that but I get what you're saying.
Well part of the reason why I refuse to watch videos like that (I've seen one, that was the Ken Bigsley video, and that was enough, and I regret watching that), is that you're watching innocent people die, and die horribly.

That's one of the main reasons why those videos are so disgusting, aside from the acts of murder themselves.

I've actually seen a video that was released either this year or last year in HD showing Syrian rebels (who fair enough, aren't exactly saints themselves) dressed in the same orange jumpsuits that normally ISIS would make their captives wear, executing convicted ISIS members with shotguns (basically turning the tables on them), and call me mental, but fuck me it was satisfying to watch. I'd happily watch it again, seeing those fuckers' heads splattered all over the shop, prior to THEM being made to read messages and bricking it. Oh sweet beautiful irony.

True. The Atlas Mountains aren't what I would consider extreme though, it’s a very common day trip from Marrakech. I’m guessing the mountain range is pretty vast though, without looking into it the two Scandinavian women’s situation, they probably found themselves in a dangerous/non-touristy part of the area without a guide. I’m in no way putting any blame on them though, I felt safe enough in the area to walk around for a few hours with just me an my girlfriend. There are some similar situations where you just think there was an incredible level of stupidity on the tourists part (visiting warzones, driving unprepared through the Australian outback etc), but I don’t think this was one of them.

I have only just learned about this case on youtube, and have gone down a rabbit hole of links of opinion pieces and such... it was not reported on the news here at all.
It is heartbreaking.

Well I saw the video in question. Pretty brutal.

I just don't know what to think or believe anymore. I would say it's stupid to try this in these places but then not all of morroco is full of ISIS nutjobs. But then doing this kinda temps fate and liberal teens are supremely naive.

I just don't know anymore. I'm not going to lie I'm becoming apathetic to both the victims and perpetrators. Numb if you will to any and all of it.

I remember my parents took me to Egypt with them when I was about 5 years old at the time. They were acting very strange the second half of the trip and I didn’t know why. They told me later that terrorists had shot and killed everyone on the exact same tour bus we were on only a few days after we rode it. Scary stuff.

It's not something that should really affect you. I suspect most people far removed from these associations are equally numb to them.

The way I look at it is like this. Even in the safety of American borders there are places you don't go. I don't know Morocco as I've never been. I'm a big fan of risk assessment. To the degree I don't do stupid shit asking for trouble. But here in America some neighborhoods if you're the wrong color, wrong place, you will get fucked up. Possibly shot and killed per what happened to that tourist some time ago. It's really no different than taking a dip in the swamp, in some area you don't know and getting eaten by a gator.

It's usually the same story. Stranger in a strange place with no idea of good and bad areas gets fucked up for wandering into the wrong associations. Even when I was in Europe I stayed with people I knew and could trust. No matter where we went I had someone who spoke the local languages and in a pinch could be leaned on. You just have to be risk adverse always. Regardless of where you are or who you are.

I've been to Europe eight times in eight years... everywhere from Paris to Barcelona to Budapest to Krakow and Prague and Berlin... the only places I've felt unsafe were London and Paris.
Ironically, I think these girls would have used more caution in these areas of Paris and London than they would in those unpoliced regions of Morocco. I feel as though they'd have had the idea that people could generally be trusted and that if you showed love and kindness, it would be returned in kind.
The whole thing is just so bloody sad.

Liberals have brain washed many youngsters that the world is all love and happiness. What the fuck were two young pretty girls like them doing in tents in country's that are dangerous no matter what any one says.

Apparently one of them had posted a whitey-is-not-alrighty-they're-racist, virtue-signalling video on Faecebook some time before going.

I've seen the video and it is pure pro-immigrant, anti-white propaganda casting brownie as scared, isolated, alienated, horror-fleeing victim wanting to live in peace in a new country and being a hard working contributor to a diverse inclusive society.
However, the poor soul is walking innocently along, head down in a cowed, subservient manner, spirit crushed, whilst nasty whitey casts dark, glowering, suspicious looks at this doctor/architect/engineer/economics lecturer/quantum physicist newly arrived guest.

Unfortunately, a lot of the recent crop of chronological adults are dumb enough to eat their own shit and haven't been out of their own bubble at any point in their lives - not even in intellectual theory, let alone practically. So, as you say, they think the world is a happy clappy place and are at serious risk of blundering into trouble. I've met plenty on my travels and, on the occasions that I liked them enough, I would steer them the right way or drop some truth bombs on them, depending on the situation. Many of them were too smug, arrogant and obnoxious for me to be interested in doing anything but letting them learn the hard way and pissing myself laughing at their "Oh shit!" moment of revelation.

I'll give an example from a few years back. I was in Phnom Penh and took a walk to get some fags. As I got to the busy intersection I could see there had just been a collision between a Khmer on one of the little motos they use and two early twenties westerners on a bigger, more powerful trail bike. There was no significant damage I could see to the bigger bike but the moto had the hand throttle snapped off and hanging by a cable.
The discussion clearly was about the guy with the damaged bike wanting some $ for repair but was getting blown off arrogantly and animatedly by the one white twat in particular. Now, I knew this cunt was making a number of big mistakes in doing what he was doing and the way he was doing it and could have stepped in, told him so and given him a steer. It was getting more and more wrong for him by the second but he was too dumb to see it. More people were gathering around and bikes were stopping and the riders were walking toward the scene. So I thought, "Fuck him. He's a little cunt and he's treating a local like a cunt. Don't know where he got his travel and cultural interaction advice from but this ain't going to end well."

So I carried on down the road, grabbed my smokes and headed back to view a very different scene. Cunty wasn't waving his arms around any more and he sure as shit wasn't trying to fuck anyone off. Neither was his mate. Both of them were now in the middle of a crowd ten times the size of a couple of minutes prior and, having realised it had all got right local colour on them, had their palms clasped together whilst bowing up and down like birds drinking having copped on to the fact that they were on the verge of a massive stomping. :rofl I don't know how it resolved itself because I enjoyed the scene for minute or so then wandered off yuk-yukking over some twat causing an accident-and be in no doubt he was at fault-then getting all bumptious before grovelling to save his hide and pay out a lot more than he could have got away with five or ten minutes earlier.

To pick up on the post by @HumansSuck it's not all that hard to stay out of trouble around the world if you aren't stupid and naive. Your own intelligence, experience and commonsense will tell you where to go/not go or what to do/not do and who with or who to avoid.
If you have lived in a city it's much easier. Most cities have shit areas and you avoid them. The good thing with having seen a few shit areas you begin to appreciate the commonalities that are worldwide. You see the signs when you are wandering into a bad area. You get the antenna for hazard, a risk radar that starts blipping.

Anyway, this pair won't be the last to think they can go off into the world, do their thing without a care, dreaming of taking selfies to put on FB of themselves eating dinner with the poor, smiling but toothless local people who had insisted they join them for their humble but free meal of rice and spicy soup only to discover they are local's meal.

Funny we (me and an old GF) were in London a week before the bus bombings. We stayed at the Méridien and rode the bus a few times. The point being you can't tell with all the cultural changes being carried out by the ivory tower. The safest space is the space they don't have control or say over which are few and far between. One of the chief reasons I left the city is the elite rule over the city and their unending desire to put consequence on others for the sake of their own virtue. So I bought land way the fuck out in the country surrounded by farms. The logic is that they'll never fuck with farmland. Not in a million years. It's too important.

My urban history was watching my blue collar neighborhood get shat on by the city and the state governor importing Sub Saharan Africans into government projects. Those neighborhoods went from decent to ghetto inside of 20 years and well, I watched it unfold the entire time. They were all Bantus and extremely aggressive. Even for the local blacks and there was a lot of turmoil, violence, drug arrests, etc. All throughout the 80s and 90s.

I would not trust any city mayor to do right by the population and the European/American thrust to rid themselves of these globalist shitlords is the right move. Indeed, people bring with them their norms. If you do not step on this mass immigration before it kicks off you will have a civil war to fight before long. Sadly, Europe and America are beyond that point. Blood will flow whether it be 10 or 20 years from now. The shitlords governing us do not care if your neighbor wants to murder you, rape your kid, etc. They're all behind security gates in another time zone. It's a major fucking problem for the world right now and ends with these shitlords out of power.
