How can boxers like Danny Williams be saved from themselves?

Danny Williams is 45. Has had 80 fights and is just boxing on and on, no end in sight. At least not a good one anyway.

We all know Roy Jones' story too - and there are many others in similar boats - boxers boxing themselves into oblivion and at who knows what cost?

How can these guys be saved from themselves? Does boxing even care?

His most recent fight was a perfect opportunity for a commission to step in and say "No more." But commissions are leery of taking that step - Williams can claim age discrimination and point to the obvious fact that there are plenty of much crappier fighters out there who are licensed (I believe a similar situation played out after Holyfield was forcibly retired following one of his late career losses).

Problem for guys like Williams is what they do once they have retired.
I'm guessing he hasn't saved his Tyson and Klit money and would have to find another job.

I've said it before, I think Williams needs to sit donn and do a career interview with someone like Tris Dixon.
It's sounds daft, but upon reflection he might just realise how far he has fallen.

Surely he has ties to one gym or one trainer that can give I'm something to keep him busy...

There will always be commissions somewhere in the world prepared to give anyone a license. He's promised to retire numerous times and always goes back on it.

I don't know what his personal situation is but really his wife/relatives are probably the only ones who can realistically get him to stop at this point.

Wasn't he a bodyguard or something?
He claimed he was retiring and becoming a bodyguard a few years back. I don't think he ever worked as one.

He has a very long history now of retiring and then going back on it. Every retirement claim he makes should be ignored tbh.
