They keep doing this. Putting him in nonsense fights then making a big step up which completely overwhelms him. I know Peter wants him to step up but this is taking the piss.

Intriguing matchup, yet one that’ll end up being a horrible one to watch, I bet.

I respect that Hughie is picking such a tough opponent so soon. But I think we’re going to see Povetkin struggle to get on the inside of a negative, retreating, spoiling Hughie. And I think we’ll see Hughie having only moderate success with the jab, and firing bendy right hands that overshoot and miss the target.

But if he happens to just throw one of them correctly, if it lands it can definitely put Povetkin on his arse.

I dont like it, I was hoping Hughie was going to get some proper promotion and building.

But if it's true that Peter has been pushing for it, you cant really blame Eddie for making it. Its watchable..

They must be very confident of beating Povetkin to take this on Hughies Matchroom debut.

You would of though they would of taken a gimme and then look to take this fight in December. Then again Alex will be 40 and nearly out the ring for a whole year so Hughie does have a chance here.

I've got a lot of interest in this card to be honest. More than I've had in any M/room card for ages.

Loma is mesmerising, I've followed Hughie for ages so still have interest in that one even though my patience is waning with him and there's an all Welsh clash for the British 135 title.

Looks like it's time for Hughie to move up or ship out. If he wins he has a path towards a title shot (admittedly probably needs 3 more good wins at this level), loses and he is in the Allen/Price camp forever.

You must be wondering why Povetkin is still fighting
He must be over 40 and it's not like he had zero pay days. He's had $5m+ for both the Klitschko and AJ fight.
Probably goes a long way in Russia as well even after all the outtakes

Danger is Fury dances around throwing pillow punches for 12 rounds and bores us all to sleep. This could be a major snooze fest Bradley Skeete style.

Boxing is all he knows, if he is still physically capable then I guess he will crack on until he can't

Nope its the opposite they want to feed Povetkin to Usyk after, he doesnt give a shit about Hughie he will probably make Hughie vs Price in the future

Povetkin wins easily if he has anything left. Way better than Hughie. Hope for a ko but either way he will be landing the harder cleaner shots all night.

Huge respect to Hughie for taking on Povetkin but it just seems a bit crazy especially when his dad is his trainer & should be looking out for him.

What I think he desperately needs is some proper gatekeeper fights like Tyson had.

It’s mad that with this fight he’ll have fought 3 of the top 10 but then you could argue he’s fought no one else in the top 50 depending on how you rate Rudenko & Kassi

I give Fury some chance. The Parker fight was close, and he had some success with Pulev. Furthermore Povetkin is 40, and small for a heavy.

Povetkin is more aggressive than those two however, and I think he will figure out Hughies defence and land some bombs.

I can see Hughie backtracking and scuffing awkward overhand rights over Povetkins hair helmet before eating some big counters.

Wouldn’t completely rule Fury out, but I don't think he has the power to hurt Povetkin, or the strength to tie him up. Reckon he gets out worked by the older guy and loses on points.
