IBF order Warrington-Galahad. Unification will have to wait.

Any hopes for Josh Warrington to land a featherweight title unification bout will have to wait at least one more fight.

Barely two weeks after beating Carl Frampton, Warrington has been issued his marching orders for his next title defense. But it won’t be a unification bout with the likes of Oscar Valdez, Leo Santa Cruz or Gary Russell Jr., rather a clash with mandatory challenger Kid Galahad.

I’d rather he fought Valdez but I don’t mind the Galahad fight, it’ll be interesting to see how he does at world level. If he fights Galahad April time he can still have a big fight July / August time

As far as mandatories go, it’s a good fight.Reckon he goes Galahad, then Quigg(should be beat Barry the Arab) and then onto the unifications(should be beat Quinn).

At least Galahad is an interesting mandatory, and should sell well in the UK. Much better than, say, a Jo Jo Dan-type fight. If Warrington can end this year with a winning run over his last four fights that reads Selby-Frampton-Galahad-Valdez (or similar), so all four a world title fight, one a unification and having entered three of them as the underdog then that would be quite the run. Would surely silence his remaining critics.

I think he should go straight into unifications after this. Could do Galahad at Elland Road in late April/early May, then stright on to Valdez in the US.

Something telling me Galahad wins this fight.

Warren doesnt want it.Whispers of Warrington struggling to make featherweight last time aswell.Galahad might be a bellend but hes a fit strong lad whos got a point to prove.

Its a really good fight.

Behave.

A fighter struggling at the weight does not fight with the physical strength, punch output and intensity that Warrington did against Carl.

Josh is a very big Featherweight but Galahad could still make SBW and has admitted he moved up to Featherweight mainly because that's where Quigg and Frampton went.

Galahad has some mysteria around him considering he's been boxing at the same level since 2012.

Josh deals with him and hopefully retires the roid head for good.

Agree with everything. I don't really like Warrington, but I don't like Galahad in the slightest for his numerous out of the ring antics. He's a complete clown and I hope Warrington puts a one sided beat down on him. You'd have to heavily favour Josh too because Galahad hasn't done shit in what's been a reasonabley long career so far.

That Dickens fight was like 7 years ago mate. Not saying Galahad wins but it’s not easy right for Josh by any stretch and it’s definitely a banana skin.

7 years ago and still the only decent fight of his to go by , have you seen his opponents since?

Barry the Arab looks the goods to me, he reminds me a lot of Kell minus the power(maybe that’s to be expected from where he trains). But I wouldn’t be comfortable backing him(or maybe anyone at the weight) against Josh after his last two fights. It’s not just who he beat, it’s how he beat them.

I think his last fight in America was a good win.He didn’t have many names on his record but he was fairly highly regarded iirc.

If he beat Tyson Cave when they were scheduled to meet it would have been a good win but that fell through for whatever reason. But you’re right, he hasn’t really fought anyone notable.

The so called strong Galahad couldn't even get Dos Santos out of there, a guy who got flattened by Magadaleno.

Josh will be too strong and too active for him. Barry's lack of resume is going to hurt him in the fight.

He might take the early rounds but Josh has been here many times before now. Let's not forget he beat Galahad twice in the ams.
