I'm an Expert on Hitler. Ask Me Anything.

I dont mean to pick on you but if the Germans were at a logistical disadvantage thats on them. As the vid i posted regarding the battle of stalingrad states, the Germans had plenty of reinforcements, but their logistics and organizational capabilities were lacking.

Its not your fault, theres alot of good historians who are Wehraboos, and NATO needed to rehabilitate the Germans during the cold war. Manstein was allowed to embellish (lost victories). However a more critical eyes are starting to examine the German defeat rather you than simply putting it down to population and inferiority.

Operation Torch, DDay, Uranus, Bagration. Ask yourself, why couldnt the brilliant German generals predict any of these?
Its an interesting discussion, guys, but perhaps you would like to start a thread for that topic itself?

Great thread mate
I’d be fascinated if you get the chance
Austria, or at least Vienna, was quite more socialist than Germany after the first world war. They made an agreement that the Hapsburgs would lose all their property and never be allowed to be involved in politics again in Austria. The rest of the aristorcracy could keep some of their holdings but had to lose the "von" and "zu" parts of the name.
When Germans come here they get a weird look if their name has von in it. German nobility seem these days to be all disfigured from plastic surgery and either drug addicts or porno stars.

That sounds very similar and plausible to a situation we had in Australia after WWII. Many Eastern Europeans were relocated here and resettled and in the interests of assimilation they dropped the “iches” and “viches” from the end of their surnames.
They also adopted westernised Christian names, not because they were being persecuted, but because it was easier for their children to adjust.
I’ve got a Serb mate whose real name is Mjkol Baricevic, his parents asked home to choose his own “Aussie” name so now he is Dave.
