Yep, it's fucking INSANE that this is still being treated as legitimate. They have multiple articles on this drivel every other week. Here is another one from 3 days ago...Is this an article debunking the GPG because the fucking thing goes on to disprove the theory.
They have 10443 firms, 78% were paying men (as an average) higher than women, 14% were paying women higher than men.
OK, so are the 14% paying women higher being sexist towards men or is it because that particular industry or occupation is dominated by women in specialised roles which required higher pay.

They then focus on air travel which has one of the highest male to female disparity and a few slides later provide the context for that, can you guess what it is?
That's correct! It's because most of their pilots are male and most of their air stewards are female... and whodathunkit, pilots get paid more than people serving you tea and crisps from a trolley. SEXISM!!!
Each and every sector, there are simple explanations to the so called gaps, whether those be social reasons like men's willingness to work longer hours, do more dangerous work, have specialties, etc ... some of them are just historical in that there are a lot of specialists like doctors who have been around for a long time and now it's balancing out at the junior doctor end because there are more women in medicine.
But the BBC continues to present this theory like it has any legitimacy, are they trolling at this point?

I'd like to see better pay for jobs like nursing, but how the fuck is this gender pay gap? Women CHOOSE to become nurses knowing what the salary involves, and if a man becomes a nurse then this relates to him too. Binmen get shit money too, but this is not about sexism. Notice how, 10 years ago this shit was always spoken of as "women paid less for the same job" and now they've realised that's untenable, so they're moving the entire argument.
This line is hilarious...

It is now openly admitted that in most jobs there is no gap when women and men start out, but after women have kids it starts to grow. No shit. Millions of women CHOOSE to not go back to work for several years. It's fucking madness, utter madness that this is not laughed at.
Another article from 4 days ago that includes Kwikfit's data and utterly misses the glaring point it proves.
Kwikfit are named as one of the worst "offenders". But, last year they had a "negative pay gap" in which women earned 15.2% more, and this year it is a %14 gap to men. Does that alone not set alarm bells ringing to these fucking idiots? The few women working for them last year were in managerial roles, dealing with numbers etc, and many of them moved on to other jobs, meaning the few women left in a male dominated job were receptionists etc earning less than the mechanics and the other managers. So basically a few high level women made a 15% pay gay to the many men working, those women leave and suddenly Kwikfit is an example of sexism.
This shit is so fucking stupid and obviously bollocks it drives me mad.
