Is conspiracy garbage/misinformation a serious problem in Western society?

There's also an argument to be made that people who question things are too easily labelled as mental conspiracy theorists. There's bound to have been shitloads of instances in history where these people have been right.

theres two big problems i see currently and they relate to eachother

1) truth has taken a backseat to feelings. when people are trying to pretend that men are women and vice versa and actually have that enforced by law things are seriously seriously fucked up. i think were going to look back at this time in complete shock at some of the things weve let these freaks bring about.

2) people are being encouraged to be "critical thinkers" without understanding what the source and nature of that sentiment actually means. critical thinkers are usually fucking idiot eddie bravo types whose verbal cognition isnt worth a rats ass. worse still theyll usually rant all day on conspiracies not realising that they themselves are useless fucking drones being co opted into a program of societal destabilisation. you dont want to be a critical thinker. you want to be an OBJECTIVE thinker. your function should be first and foremost judging whether the information you are receiving is objectively true. if its not then its not information, its propaganda. Being an objective thinker is recognising the nuance in the facts youre hearing and understanding that even people you disagree with can be correct, its waiting 3 days when a news story breaks to get ALL the facts or at least all the facts you can, its realising that the clips and stories you see on the news (i.e trump, global warming, covid, etc) are very specifically curated and cut to contain only what certain ideologically bent agencies or people WANT you to see.
fuck "critical" thinkers and the whore they got farted out of

Well yeah there are a few instances where there was indeed some truth to the conspiracy like the once crazy idea our governments were spying on us which we all know now is definitely true via wikileaks or that governments in the past have experimented on solidiers or even the public and later on it was disclosed.

But let's be honest for every conspiracy that's proven to have some truth to it there's a thousand crack pot theories.

Challenging and questioning things is something most people do but the difference between most people and a conspiracy theorist is the conspiracy theorist base their opinion on BS sources and ignores large amounts of contradicting data that doesn't suit your opinion. Basically they are not being objective.

So when the government said the public don't need to wear face masks but should wear a face covering like a scarf, while there was a PPE shortage and growing evidence of the efficacy of masks and many countries that had wide spread mask use not seen big spikes in cases, some people saw that as BS and rightly so as there was evidence to suggest they had motives to ensure the public didn't buy up the PPE and expose the governments failings.

But when some idiot on social media starts saying Covid was caused by 5G and Swine flu by 4G and SARS by 3G when there's no evidence of such and even evidence that it was impossible as SARS and Swine flu started in countries where there was no 3G or 4G at the time then you can put it down to a BS conspiracy. But a conspiracy theorists will ignore the data and go, forget logic and go with his "feelings."

Another important distinction is how it impacts your life.

I'm capable of accepting the possibility of even the most crackpot theory while still remaining rational.

So, I could believe 5G towers are potentially dangerous, I might even avoid them, but I don't allow that possibility to cloud my judgement.

Therefore I wouldn't ignore the more pressing threat of the covid pandemic as a cover up.

Real conspiracy nuts aren't capable of this. The nonsense starts to take over their life and affect their judgement.

Why have they added stars to the staged moon landing cartoon when there were no visible stars in NASAs images of the staged moon landing?
You really wanna go down this "the moon landing was fake" road?

Because if you do, then I'll be asking YOU the questions to see if you can back that shit up.

You answered my question with a question.
And have threatened to ask yet more questions.

It would appear that you are rather short on answers...
Fuck off with your stupid, stupid shit that falls over at the first hurdle. You have to be a straight up moron to believe that it is even possible to fake a moon landing.

you fell at the first hurdle by not answering the first question and then replying with just a bunch of more questions

I could see why America would fake the moon landing, they wanted to beat the Russians.

I could also see how they could do it on a soundstage.

What I can't see, it's why in subsequent tears this hasn't been revealed by America's enemies. Why wouldn't Russia or China reveal this, its not like it would be difficult to prove with their powers and modern tech.

Also, we will very soon be going to Mars, so why couldn't we have already been to the moon?

Also, if they didn't go to the moon, how did they fake radio transmissions coming from the capsule.

Considering that every radio enthusiast on the planet was listening in and triangulating their position in space.

The US faked it, but the Russians never figured it out and never even made the accusation. For......... reasons? :conf

But these are questions that no conspiracy moron will ever answer, of course. You will NEVER see one of them walk you through his certain of events as though it really happened. Because as soon as you ask them to spell out how it worked in reality, the whole thing falls apart because they started on a foundation of "I WANT to believe it was all faked, so I'll just blindly go with that and never really examine whether what I'm saying actually makes any sense at all."

That's right. That shit would be plastered everywhere. It was a crowning technological, but largely symbolic achievement that cemented us as the alpha dog. They'd rip that trophy off the shelf as quickly as they could.

I've got to give this question some thought. My default answer would be no. I think the crazy amount of crazy you see in the west comes down to freedoms and access to more information than we are built for. Too much free time. Too much information. Too many psychological makeups. Too good at pattern recognition.

Yes. America has loads of enemies now and back then. The slightest weakness in in the moon landing and they would be all over it.
